Stand By Your Man
CARLA BRUNI
SONGWRITERS:  BILLY SHERRILL / TAMMY WYNETTE
PAIS: FRANCE
ALBUM: FRENCH TOUCH
LABEL: TEOREMA & BARCLAY
      GENRE: EASY LISTENING
YEAR: 2017

French Touch is the fifth studio album by Italian-French singer Carla Bruni, released on 6 October 2017 by Teorema and Barclay.

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
Givin' all your love to just one man
You'll have the bad times
And he'll have the good times
Doing things that you don't understand

But if you love him, you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand, mm, mm
And if you love him, oh, be proud of him
'Cause after all, he's just a man

Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely

Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can, mm, mm
Stand by your man, hmm, hmm

Stand by your man (Ooh, ooh)
And show the world you love him (Ooh, ooh)
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man, mm, mm, mm

She gained international recognition by winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Switzerland with "Ne partez pas sans moi". After learning to speak English, she signed with Epic Records in the United States. The follow-up to her commercially successful album The Colour of My Love(1993) and French-language D'eux(1995), Falling into You showed a further progression of Dion's music. Throughout the project she collaborated with Jim Steinman, who wrote and produced "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", among others. It was certified Diamond, Multi-Platinum, Platinum and Gold around the world.

There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed
If I just listened to it right outside the window
There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were drying up forever
I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made

But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
It's so hard to believe but
It's all coming back to me
It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now
There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow

Baby, baby
If I kiss you like this
And if you whisper like that
It was lost long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you want me like this
And if you need me like that
It was dead long ago
But it's all coming back to me
It's so hard to resist
And it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now

But it's all coming back

There were those empty threats and hollow lies
And whenever you tried to hurt me
I just hurt you even worse and so much deeper
There were hours that just went on for days
When alone at last we'd count up all the chances
That were lost to us forever (Forever)

But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then
But if I touch you like this
And if you kiss me like that
It was so long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me

It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now
There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow

Baby, baby, baby
When you touch me like this
And when you hold me like that
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now

If you forgive me all this
If I forgive you all that
We forgive and forget
And it's all coming back to me now

When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now

And when you kiss me like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And when I touch you like that
(It's all coming back to me now)
And if you do it like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And if we.

You're closer to me
Than the shore is to the waves of the sea
Than a leaf is to a bow of a tree
Oh my love, no one else can be closer to me
You're closer by far
Than a moonbeam to the light of a star
Than your laughter to the place where you are
Oh my love stay as close ever closer to me
Everyday
Let me be closer to you
Far away
I couldn't live a day through
Though they say
People in love can be blind
With every new moment I find
You're closer to me
Than a bird is to the air as it flies
Than the tears are to a child when it cries
And when I see the sky high above
Then I pray that as close as we grow
We would show to the world that we know
Just how close we can be
Now we found true love
Then I pray that as close as we grow
We would show to the world that we know
Just how close we can be
Now we found true love.

THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG

NOUVELLE VAGUE (HELENA NOGUERRA)
SONGWRITERS: JOHN LYDON; KEITH LEVENE & MARTIN CLIVE ATKINS
COUNTRY: FRANCE/BELGIUM
ALBUM: NOUVELLE VAGUE
LABEL: PEACEFROG RECORDS
GENRE: EASY LISTENING
YEAR: 2004

Nouvelle Vague is a French cover band led by musicians Olivier Libaux and Marc Collin. Their name means "new wave" in French, and refers simultaneously to the French New Wave cinema movement of the 1960s, to the new wave music movement of the 1970s and 1980s, which provides many of the songs that the band covers, and to bossa nova(Portuguese for "new wave"), a musical style that the band frequently uses in its arrangements.
The group's recordings and live performances have featured a large rotating cast of mostly female vocalists. Several of the artists who have performed with the band have also had successful solo careers, including Camille, Phoebe Killdeer, Mélanie Pain, and Nadéah Miranda.
Nouvelle Vague is the debut studio album by the French band Nouvelle Vague. It was first released on 9 August 2004 on Peacefrog Records.
The album consists entirely of easy listening and bossa nova versions of songs that were written and recorded during the post-punk/new wave era. The band's name is a play on words, new wave and bossa nova being the literal translations, in English and Portuguese respectively, of the French phrase Nouvelle Vague, which is itself a reference to the French cinema movement of the 1950s and 1960s. The songs were recorded with female vocalists who had not previously heard the songs they would be covering.
Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux began work on the project in 2003, after Collin had the idea of covering Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in a bossa nova style. Libaux later explained: "I met Marc Collin during the 90's, at a friend's place. Marc was the first musician I met in years who I could talk [to] about new wave music. For some reason, at the end of the 80's, punk and new wave music had turned into a sort of old-fashioned music, which nobody was talking about anymore. Meeting Marc, I could talk about The Stranglers, The Cure and The Sisters of Mercy again. We then have worked on a couple of albums he was producing ... Starting Nouvelle Vague was sounding obvious for us, as our ideas were matching, and the songs were happening well and quickly." The album was produced and recorded over a period of eight months.
This is not a love song
Happy to have, not to have not
Big business is very wise
I'm crossing over into
Enterprise

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song

I'm adaptable now, I like my new role
I'm getting better and better
I have a new goal, I'm changing my ways
Where money applies, this is not a love song

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song

I'm going over to the other side
I'm happy to have not to have not
Big business is very wise
I'm inside free enterprise

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song

That television, behind the curtain
Out of the cupboard, you take the first train
Into the big world, are you ready to grab the candle?
That tunnel vision

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
This is not a love song.

May each day in the week be a good day
May the Lord always watch over you
And may all of your hopes turn to wishes
And may all of your wishes come true

May each day in the month be a good day
May you make friends with each one you meet
And may all of your daydreams be mem'ries
And may all of your mem'ries be sweet

The weeks turn to months and the months into Years
There'll be sadness and joy, there'll be laughter and tears
But one thing I pray to heaven above
May each of your days be a day full of love

May each day in the year be a good day
May each dawn find you happy and gay
And may all of your days be as lovely
As the one you shared with me today

ACROSS THE WAY

JONATHAN POTENCIANO
SONGWRITERS: Carl Sigman; Hans Bradtke & James Last
COUNTRY: PHILIPPINES
ALBUM: THEN AND NOW
LABEL: JONATHAN POTENCIANO
GENRE: SEASONAL/EASY LISTENING
YEAR: 2019

Originally from Manila in the Philippines, I have been living in Las Vegas for over 30 years now.
In those 30 years, I was a business owner of my own band, most recently called JAMM, and we performed all over Vegas and the world until it ended on March 14, 2020, the last performance date at the Paris Hotel & Casino when all our gigs were cancelled due to Covid - 19.   Like everyone else around the world, we were caught completely off guard.  Needless to say, I had to find another way to make money and stay creative because LIVE music was non-existent.  Outside of music I was building a travel club business.  Which I absolutely loved!  But, of course,
Covid -19 took that out at the same time.

NOTE: WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS VOICE, I WAS IN LOVE WITH ITS SOFTNESS. THAT'S WHY I PROUDLY INCLUDE IT ON MY BLOGG
ALMOST ALL THE SONGS ON THE BLOGG ARE PICKED BY ME
I shared the golden sun with her,
In days that are no more.
I used to love to run with her
Along the sandy shore.
She had a special prayer for me
To help my world go right.
Her hand was always there for me
The coldest winter night.

I hear the music from across the way,
Across the bridges of my mind.
I lift the misty shades of yesterday
To catch the dreams I left behind.

It was a joy to be with her,
To watch the way she smiled.
I guess I just felt free with her,
So free and young and wild.
I really came to love that girl;
How much she'll never know.
I need the nearness of that girl;
I really miss her so.

I hear the music from across the way,
Across the bridges of my mind.
I lift the misty shades of yesterday
To catch the dreams I left behind.

YEAR: 1968

Joseph Raymond Conniff(November 6, 1916–October 12, 2002) was an American bandleader and arranger best known for his Ray Conniff Singers during the 1960s.
Honey is an album by Ray Conniff and The Singers. It was released in 1968 on the Columbia label (catalog nº CS-9661).
The album debuted on Billboard magazine's "Top LPs" chart on July 27, 1968, peaked at Nº. 22, and remained on that chart for nine weeks. It was certified by the RIAA as a gold record. It was also Conniff's last album to make the Top 40 on the Billboard album chart.
AllMusic later gave the album a rating of three stars. Reviewer William Ruhlmann wrote: "Fans of the original songs may have found the results disconcerting on occasion, but Conniff was aiming at a less-discerning audience that could have hummed along when hearing the songs on the radio without paying close attention to the words."

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig
Then the first snow came
And she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Cryin'over some sad and silly late, late show

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad
But what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me
And hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly
And caught her cryin' needlessly
In the middle of the day
And it was in the early Spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone
The angels came
Now all I have is memories of Honey
And I wake up nights and call her name
Now my life's an empty stage
Where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flower bed
That Honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
And I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig.

When Im alone at night,
And theres no one to comfort me,
I think of you…
And suddenly my pillow is your face and your arms.
And when the winter wind comes chasin after me,
I think of you…
And its as though I crawl beneath the blanket
soft and warm.

How did I get from dark to daylight,
Before you happened to pass by?
How did I find my way through life,
Before you brightened up my sky?
Was there a sky at all,
Until you painted it for me?
How did I get on,
Till you came along?

Who knows how many times I pause in every day,
To think of you?
As often as the sun sails out upon the silent sea!
And if youre wonderin why it is I only think of you,
Well its because Id like to be as close to you,
As youve become to me!
I think of you…
I think of you…

Grace Patricia Kelly(November 12, 1929–September 14, 1982) was an American film actress who, after starring in several significant films in the early to mid-1950s, became Princess of Monaco by marrying Prince Rainier III in April 1956.
After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1949, she began appearing in New York City theatrical productions and over 40 live drama productions broadcast in early 1950s Golden Age of Television. Kelly gained stardom from her performance in John Ford's adventure-romance Mogambo (1953), starring Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the drama The Country Girl(1954) with Bing Crosby. Other notable works include the western High Noon(1952) with Gary Cooper, the romance-comedy High Society(1956) with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, and three consecutive Alfred Hitchcock suspense thrillers: Dial M for Murder(1954) with Ray Milland, Rear Window (1954) with James Stewart, and To Catch a Thief(1955) with Cary Grant.
Kelly retired from acting at age 26 to marry Rainier, and she began her duties as Princess of Monaco. Hitchcock hoped that she would appear in more of his films which required an "icy blonde" lead actress, but he was unable to coax her out of retirement. The Prince and Princess had three children: Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stéphanie. Princess Grace retained her link to America by her dual U.S. and Monégasque citizenship. Her charity work focused on young children and the arts, establishing the Princess Grace Foundation to support local artisans in 1964. Her organization for children's rights, AMADE Mondiale, gained consultive status within UNICEF and UNESCO. She died aged 52 at Monaco Hospital on September 14, 1982, from the injuries sustained in her car crash the previous day. She is listed 13th among the American Film Institute's 25 Greatest Female Stars of Classical Hollywood Cinema. Her son, Prince Albert, helped establish the Princess Grace Awards in 1984 to recognize emerging performers in film, theatre, and dance.
Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby Jr. (May 3, 1903–October 14, 1977) was an American singer-songwriter comedian and actor. The first multimedia star, Crosby was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. He was a leader in record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses from 1930 to 1954. He made over seventy feature films and recorded more than 1.600 songs.
His early career coincided with recording innovations that allowed him to develop an intimate singing style that influenced many male singers who followed him, including Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Dick Haymes, Elvis Presley, and John Lennon.
Yank magazine said that he was "the person who had done the most for the morale of overseas servicemen" during World War II. In 1948, American polls declared him the "most admired man alive," ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII:6 Also in 1948, Music Digest estimated that his recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.
Crosby won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Going My Way(1944), and was nominated for its sequel The Bells of St. Mary's(1945) opposite Ingrid Bergman, becoming the first of six actors to be nominated twice for playing the same character. In 1963, Crosby received the first Grammy Global Achievement Award. He is one of 33 people to have three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the categories of motion pictures, radio, and audio recording. He was also known for his collaborations with longtime friend Bob Hope, starring in the Road to... films from 1940 to 1962.
Crosby influenced the development of the postwar recording industry. After seeing a demonstration of a German broadcast quality reel-to-reel tape recorder brought to America by John T. Mullin, he invested $50,000 in a California electronics company called Ampex to build copies. He then convinced ABC to allow him to tape his shows. He became the first performer to pre-record his radio shows and master his commercial recordings onto magnetic tape.
Through the medium of recording, he constructed his radio programs with the same directorial tools and craftsmanship (editing, retaking, rehearsal, time shifting) used in motion picture production, a practice that became an industry standard. In addition to his work with early audio tape recording, he helped to finance the development of videotape, bought television stations, bred racehorses, and co-owned the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team.
"True Love" is a popular song written by Cole Porter and was published in 1956. The song was introduced by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly in the musical film High Society. "True Love" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Kelly's contribution on the record is relatively minor, duetting with Crosby on only the final chorus. Nonetheless, the single is co-credited to her.
Sun-tanned, Wind-blown
Honeymooners at last alone.
Feeling far above par.
Oh, how lucky we are!
While

I give to you and you give to me,
True love, true love.
So on and on it'll always be,
True love, true love.
For you and I
Have a guardian angel on high,
With nothin' to do.
But to give to you and to give to me,
Love forever true.

For you and I
Have a guardian angel on high,
With nothin' to do.
But to give to you and to give to me,
Love forever true.
Love forever true.
