KILLING ME SOFTLY WITH HER
PERRY COMO
SONGWRITERS: CHARLES FOX; NORMAN GIMBEL & LORI LIEBERMAN
COUNTRY: U.S.A.
ALBUM: "AND I LOVE YOU SO"
LABEL: RCA RECORDS
GENRE: MAMBO
YEAR: 1973

And I Love You So was Perry Como's 21st 12" long-play album released by RCA Records.
As with It's Impossible, this album was issued to feature a surprise hit single, Don McLean’s "And I Love You So". Como brought the song to the national top 40 (Number One Easy Listening). Previous versions of the song by Bobby Goldsboro and Bobby Vinton had met with mild or no success. Como's version was so successful, RCA asked him to record the song in Spanish. When Como said he didn't speak the language, he received personal Spanish lessons from the head of RCA International to get the record made. As in recent Como LP's, this collection features selections from then contemporary recording artists such as Roberta Flack, The Carpenters, Ray Price, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Bread and Mac Davis. The album was among the last to be produced by Atkins before he stepped down from his executive position with RCA Nashville.
I heard she sang a good song, I heard she had a style
And so I came to see her and listen for a while
And there she was this young girl, a stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with her fingers
Singing my life with her words
Killing me softly with her song
Killing me softly with her song
Telling my whole life with her words
Killing me softly with her song

I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd
I felt she found my letters and read each one out loud
I prayed that she would finish but she just kept right on

Strumming my pain with her fingers
Singing my life with her words
Killing me softly with her song
Killing me softly with her song
Telling my whole life with her words
Killing me softly with her song

She sang as if she knew me in all my dark despair
And then she looked right through me as if I wasn't there
But she was there, the stranger, singing clear and strong

Strumming my pain with her fingers
Singing my life with her words
Killing me softly with her song
Killing me softly with her song
Telling my whole life with her words
Killing me softly with her song.
THAT'S AMORE
DEAN MARTIN
SONGWRITER: JACK BROOKS & HARRY WARREN
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: SINGLE DEAN MARTIN – THAT’S AMORE
LABEL: CAPITOL STUDIOS, HOLLYWOOD
GENRE: MAMBO
YEAR: 1953

"That's Amore" is a 1953 song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Jack Brooks. It became a major hit and signature song for Dean Martin in 1953. Amore (pronounced[aˈmoːre]) means "love" in Italian.
The song first appeared in the soundtrack of the Martin and Lewis comed film The Caddy, released by Paramount Pictures on August 10, 1953. Lewis commissioned Warren and Brooks to write songs for Martin to sing in the movie. According to Lewis, he personally paid them $30,000 secretly in the hope that one would be a hit for Martin. In the film the song is performed mainly by Martin, with Lewis joining in and then followed by the other characters in the scene. It received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Song of that year, but it lost to "Secret Love" from Calamity Jane starring Doris Day.
The track that was used for the single released by Capitol Records was recorded on August 13, 1953, (Session 3098; Master 11694-6) at Capitol Records' studios at 5505 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California, with the orchestra conducted by Dick Stabile. On November 7, 1953, Martin's record of the song, with "You're the Right One" (which was recorded at the same session as "That's Amore") on the flip side, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts.
The song remains closely identified with Dean Martin. That's Amore was used as the title for a 2001 video retrospective of Martin's career; and his son, Ricci Martin, titled his 2002 biography That's Amore: A Son Remembers Dean Martin. As an iconic song, "That's Amore" remains a secondary signature song. The song was also the opening titles song in the film Moonstruck.
Dean Martin (born Dino Paul Crocetti; June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995), was an American singer, actor, comedian, and producer.
One of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th century, Martin was nicknamed "The King of Cool" for his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assurance. He and Jerry Lewis formed the immensely popular comedy duo Martin and Lewis, with Martin serving as the straight man to Lewis' slapstick hijinks. A member of the "Rat Pack", Martin went on to become a star of concert stages, nightclubs, audio recordings, motion pictures, and television.
Martin was the host of the television variety programs The Dean Martin Show and The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. His relaxed, warbling, crooning voice earned him dozens of hit singles, including his signature songs "Memories Are Made of This", "That's Amore", "Everybody Loves Somebody", "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You", "Sway", "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?", and "Volare".
(In Napoli, where love is king
When boy meets girl here's what they say)

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore

(When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie

Tan sabrosa y sensual, morenita hechicera
Y su forma de mirar, es de mujer bandolera,

Teresa bandolera, Teresa bandolera,
Teresa bandolera, Teresa bandolera.
Teresa bandolera, Teresa bandolera,
Teresa bandolera, Teresa más que mujer traicionera

Yo encontré Teresa
Y mi cabeza rodó
Siempre que encuentro Teresa
Recuerdo lo que pasó
Teresa cosita más rica
Que la naturaleza nos dio
Todos ya quieren probar

Su amor, su amor.

(Pa pa pa pia, pa pa pa pia, pia, pia ...)

Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont let the moon break your heart!
Love blooms at night,
In daylight it dies,
Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont keep your heart from me,
For some day I'll return,
And you know youre the only one I'll ever love!

Too many nights! (Too many nights!)
Too many stars! (Too many stars!)
Too many moons could change your mind!
( Dont let the moon change your mind! )

If Im gone too long,
Dont forget where you belong,
When the stars come out remember you are mine!

Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont let the moon break your heart!
Love blooms at night,
In daylight it dies,
Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont keep your heart from me,
For some day I'll return,
And you know youre the only one I'll ever love!

(Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
...Dont let the moon break your heart!)

(Pa pa pa pia, pa pa pa pia ...)

Too many miles! (Too many miles!)
Too many days! (Too many days!)
Too many nights to be alone! (Too many nights all alone!)
Oh! please keep your heart, while we are apart,
Dont you linger in the moonlight when Im gone! (While Im gone!)

Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont let the moon break your heart!
(Dont let the moon break your heart!)
Love blooms at night,
In daylight it dies,
Dont let the stars get in your eyes,
Dont keep your heart from me,
For some day I'll return,
And you know youre the only one I'll ever love!
(I'll ever love!) I'll ever love!

Youre the only one! (Youre the only one!)

I'll ever love!

PERRY COMO
SONGWRITERS: BURT BACHARACH & HAL DAVID
COUNTRY: U.S.A.
ALBUM: PERRY COMO SINGS THE POP
LABEL: RCA/BMG HERITAGE
GENRE: MAMBO
YEAR: 1958

"Magic Moments" is a popular song with music by Burt Bacharach and lyrics by Hal David, one of the first compositions by that duo. The song was published in 1957.
The biggest hit version of the song was recorded by Perry Como in 1957, and became a hit in early 1958. His recording was produced by Joe Reisman. The peak position in the United States is hard to track precisely, due to the multiple charts used in Billboard magazine. The overall impact of the song probably fell just below the top ten. The song was also a 1958 hit in Italy, while in the United Kingdom it spent eight weeks at number one in the UK Singles Chart, becoming Como's biggest ever hit there. A less successful UK cover version recorded by Ronnie Hilton reached No. 22 on the UK Singles Chart, in 1958.

Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing

I'll never forget the moment
We kissed the night of the hayride
The way that we hugged to try to keep warm
While taking a sleigh ride

Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring

Time can't erase the memory of
These magic moments filled with love

The telephone call
That tied up the line for hours and hours
The Saturday dance I got up the nerve
To send you some flowers

Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring

Time can't erase the memory of
These magic moments filled with love

(The way that we cheered
Whenever our team was scoring a touchdown)
The time that the floor fell out of my car
When I put the clutch down

(The penny arcade, the games that we played
The fun and the prizes)
The Halloween hop when everyone came
In funny disguises

Magic moments
