COUNTRY: U.S.A.
ALBUM: INTO THE LIGHT
LABEL: A & M
GENRE: SOFT ROCK
YEAR: 1999

"The Lady in Red" is a song by British-Irish singer-songwriter Chris de Burgh. It was released in June 1986 as the second single from the álbum Into the Light. The song was responsible for introducing de Burgh's music to a mainstream audience worldwide.
The song was written in reference to (though not specifically about) his wife Diane and was released on the album Into the Light. On the British TV series This Is Your Life, de Burgh said that the song was inspired by the memory of when he first saw Diane, and how men so often cannot even remember what their wives were wearing when they first met.

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They're looking for a little romance
Given half a chance
And I've never seen that dress you're wearing
Or that highlights in your hair
That catch your eyes
I have been blind

The lady in red is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek
There's nobody here
It's just you and me
It's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight

I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright you were amazing
I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled it took my breath away
And I have never had such a feeling such a feeling
Of complete and utter love, as I do tonight

The lady in red is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek
There's nobody here
It's just you and me
It's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight

I never will forget the way you look tonight
The lady in red
My lady in red

I love you

Sei de cor
Cada traço do teu rosto, do teu olhar
Cada sombra da tua voz e cada silêncio,
Cada gesto que tu faças,
Meu amor sei-te de cor

Sei cada capricho teu e o que não dizes
Ou preferes calar, deixa-me adivinhar
Não digas que o louco sou eu
Se for tanto melhor
Amor sei-te de cor

Sei porque becos te escondes,
Sei ao pormenor o teu melhor e o pior
Sei de ti mais do que queria
Numa palavra diria
Sei-te de cor.

Sei cada capricho teu e o que não dizes
Ou preferes calar, deixa-me adivinhar
Não digas que o louco sou eu
Se for tanto melhor
Amor sei-te de cor

Sei de cor cada traço do teu rosto, do teu olhar
Cada sombra da tua voz e cada silêncio,
Cada gesto que tu faças
Meu amor sei-te de cor.

COMPOSERS: JORDI BASTARD, BARRY MASON, LES REED
PRODUCER: PETER SULLIVAN

ALBUM: DELILAH
LABEL: DECCA
GENRE: BALLAD
YEAR: 1968

"Delilah" is a murder ballad recorded by Welsh singer Tom Jones in 1968. The lyrics were written by Barry Mason, to music by Les Reed, who also contributed the title and theme of the song. It earned Reed and Mason the 1968 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my Delilah
Why, why, why Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more

[insert trumpet solo here]

She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more

Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more.

Africa has the shape of a broken heart
And the heart of a broken land,

You fell from heaven
Straight to hell,
Now your children are missing

I try to understand
Who i am
Years after years
God, it feels the same

Parted favors
Everybody's gone
Ain't no war that i know
Anybody won

Africa has the shape of a broken heart
And the heart of a broken land,

You fell from heaven
Straight to hell,
Now your children are missing

Kiss their forehead
And hold their hands
Close their eyes
And put their name on their graves

Dust is dust
And so goes our faith
So goes our faith

Africa has the shape of a broken heart
And the heart of a broken land,

Fell from heaven
Straight to hell,
Now your children are missing

And the wind blows,
And the children roam
Sitting on a side of a road
Watching all the boats, ooh

Africa has the shape of a broken heart
And the heart of a broken land,

You fell from heaven
Straight to hell,
And now your children are missing

Now i understand
Who i am, who i am, who i am…

Tell me how,
Tell me how,
Tell me how,
I can accept the thing
Things that i can’t change

Except the things that i can change
