PAYS: FRANCE
ALBUM: MISE A TOI
RECORD: CAPITOL
GENRE: POP

Si on faisait un flach back
On revenait en arrière
Pour te rappeller ce qu'tu me disais

Qu'on resterait ensemble jusqu'à redevenir poussières

Maintenant

CHIRPY CHIRPY CHEEP CHEEP
MIDDLE OF THE ROAD
SONGWRITER: LALLY STOTT
COUNTRY: SCOTLAND
ALBUM: CHIRPY CHIRPY CHEEP CHEEP
LABEL: RCA VICTOR
GENRE: BUBBLEGAM
YEAR: 1971

"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" is a song recorded in early 1971 by its composer Lally Stott, and made popular later that year by Scottish band Middle of the Road for whom it was a UK number one chart hit. That version is one of the fewer than forty all-time singles to have sold in excess of 10 million physical copies worldwide. Despite its popularity when originally released, the song is rarely played on oldies radio stations today.
The original recording by its composer Lally Stott, was a hit in France (Top 15), a minor hit in Italy, Australia and in the United States. Stott's record company, Philips, was reluctant to release the song overseas, and apparently offered it to two other groups: Scottish folk-pop group Middle of the Road, who were working in Italy at the time, and Mac and Katie Kissoon. While it is unclear which group Stott offered his song to first, Mac and Katie Kissoon produced their cover version first. Middle of the Road's version then initially became a hit on the Continent only, but later grew in popularity in the United Kingdom, reportedly via DJ Tony Blackburn favoring this version over the previously-produced version by Mac and Katie Kissoon. However, Middle of the Road's version didn't even chart on the United States Billboard Hot 100, and nearly flopped in the UK also, because it followed the Kissoon's previously-produced version. Middle of the Road's version eventually reached #1 in the UK and stayed there for five weeks in June 1971, while the Kissoons' version only reached #41. In the USA the Kissoon's version was a greater success, reaching #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Lally Stott's original version reached #92.
The song was dismissed by critics as bubblegum at the time, a view initially held by band leader Ken Andrews: "We were as disgusted with the thought of recording it as most people were at the thought of buying it. But at the end of the day, we liked it

Far, far away
Far, far away

Last night, I heard my mama singing a song
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Woke up this morning and my mama was gone
Ooh-We, Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep
Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep, Chirp

Sento sul viso
Il tuo respiro
Cara come sei
Tu dolce
Sempre di piu'
Per quello
Che mi dai io ti
Ringrazierei ma poi
Non so parlare

E' piu' vicino
Il tuo profumo
Stringiti forte a me
Non chiederti perche'
La sera scende gia'
La notte impazziro'
In fondo agli occhi
Tuoi bruciano i miei

Un amore cosi' grande
Un amore cosi' tanto
Caldo dentro e
Fuori intorno a noi
Un silenzio breve e poi

La bocca tua
Si accende
Un' altra volta
Un amore cosi' grande
Un amore cosi' tanto
Caldo dentro e
Fuori intorno a noi
Un silenzio breve e poi
In fondo agli occhi tuoi
Bruciano i miei

La sera scende gia'
La notte impazziro'
In fondo agli occhi tuoi
Bruciano i miei
Un amore cosi' grande
Un amore cosi' tanto
Ccaldo dentro e
Fuori intorno a noi

Un silenzio breve e
Poi la bocca tua
Si accende
Si accende
Un'altra volta
E poi la bocca tua
Si accende
Si accende un'altra
Volta per me.

Let's not fight it anymore
Unpack the bags and close the door
I'll never leave you, no, no
Though you lied right from the start
I can't convince my stupid heart
Not to believe you

You've got two good men strung out
And there's not the slightest doubt
That other men have loved you before
But you work your thing so well
I'll dream of Heaven and live in Hell
Til I can't take it anymore

If I had one ounce of pride
I'd stand up or step aside
But girl, I love you, can't you tell it?
So I'll accept the crumbs you drop
'Cause I'm a fool and I can't stop
Or rise above you

Let him speak up for himself
I speak for me and no one else
'Cause I'm a beggar knockin' on your door
You work your thing so well
I'll dream of Heaven and live in Hell
Til I can't take it anymore

I'm too far gone to turn around
To lift myself up off the ground
And start all over, over and over and over
Now him or I must win or lose
No matter which one you may choose
You'll be in clover, you know you will

Darlin', while you're making up your mind
Well, I'll be prayin' all the time
Prayin' that you'll never, never, never be letting me go
But you work your thing so well
I'll dream of Heaven and live in Hell
Til I can't take it anymore

Girl, you work your thing so well
Dream of Heaven and live in Hell
Til I can't take it anymore
You know that you work that thing so well
I dream of Heaven and live in Hell
Til I can't take it anymore

You work it so well

I dream of Heaven and live in Hell
