I got a lot to say to you
Yeah! I got a lot to say
I notice your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here and it makes no sense at all

They've taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They've taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
Crush... Crush.. Crush... Crush! Crush!
2, 3, 4

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one, two
Of us, who's counting on?
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, this

If you wanna play it like a game
Well come on, come on let's play
Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute

They've taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They've taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
Crush... Crush.. Crush... Crush! Crush!
2, 3, 4

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one, two
Of us, who's counting on?
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, this now

Rock and roll baby
Don't you know
That we're all alone now
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll (Hey) !
Don't you know baby
We're all alone now
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll (Hey) !
Don't you know baby
We're all alone now
Gimme something to sing about

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one, two
Of us, who's counting on?
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one, two
Of us, who's counting on?
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again

Let's be more than, more than this

Summer after high school
When we first met
We'd make out in your Mustang
To Radiohead
And on my 18th birthday
We got matching tattoos

Used to steal your parent's liquor
And climb to the roof
Talk about our future
Like we had a clue
Never planned that one day
I'd be losing you

In another life,
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

I was june and you were my johnny cash
Never one without the other
We made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you
I put those records on
Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown
Singing the blues
It's time to face the music
I'm no longer your muse

In another life
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

The one
The one
The one
The one that got away

All this money
Can't buy me a time machine, no
Can't replace you with a million rings, no
I should've told you
What you meant to me, whoa
'cause now I pay the price

In another life
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away
The one that got away

The one (the one)
The one (the one)
The one (the one)

In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say
You were the one that got away

The one that got away

A THOUSAND STARS
BILLY FURY
SONGWRITER: EUGENE PEARSON
COUNTRY: U.K.
ALBUM: HALFWAY TO PARADISE
LABEL: INDIGO RECORDS
GENRE: POP
YEAR: 1960

"A Thousand Stars" is a song written by Eugene Pearson and performed by Kathy Young with the Innocents. It reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the R&B chart in 1960. The song was featured on her 1961 album, The Sound of Kathy Young.
The song was produced and arranged by James Lee.
Sandy Nelson played drums on the record.
Ronald William Wycherley (17 April 1940 – 28 January 1983), better known by his stage name Billy Fury, was an English singer from the late 1950s to the mid 1960s, and remained an active songwriter until the 1980s. Rheumatic fever, which he first contracted as a child, damaged his heart and ultimately contributed to his death. An early British rock and roll (and film) star, he equaled the Beatles' record of 24 hits in the 1960s, and spent 332 weeks on the UK chart, without a chart-topping single or album.
AllMusic journalist Bruce Eder stated, "His mix of rough-hewn good looks and unassuming masculinity, coupled with an underlying vulnerability, all presented with a good voice and some serious musical talent, helped turn Fury into a major rock and roll star in short order". Others have suggested that Fury's rapid rise to prominence was due to his "Elvis Presley-influenced, hip-swivelling and at times highly suggestive stage act.
A thousand stars in the skies
Like the stars in your eyes
They say to me
That there'll never be
No other love
Like yours for me

A thousand stars in the skies
Make me realize
You are the one love
That I'll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you're mine once more
(You're mine, you're mine once more)

Each night I count
The stars in the skies
Hoping that you aren't telling me lies
You're with me tonight
I'm captured by your charms
Oh, pretty baby
Let me hold you in my arms

A thousand stars in the skies
Make me realize
You are the one love
That I'll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you're mine once more
(You're mine, you're mine once more)

[Spoken]
Each night I count
The stars in the skies
Hoping that you're not telling me lies
You're with me tonight
I'm captured by your charms
Oh, pretty baby
Let me hold you in my arms

A thousand stars in the skies
Make me realize
You are the one love
That I'll adore
Tell me you love me
Tell me you're mine once more

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you
Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait for you
And I can't live

With or without you
With or without you

With or without you

Through the storm, we reach the shore
You gave it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live with or without you
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give, and you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied, my body bruised
She got me with nothing to win
And nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give, and you give
And you give, and you give

And I can't live
With or without you
With or without you

With or without you
