High, Low and In Between is an album by country singer/songwriter Townes Van Zandt, released in 1971. The album was recorded in L.A. and showcases what Van Zandt himself considered to be one of his most well written songs, "To Live Is To Fly".
I come from a long line
high and low and in between
same as you
hills of golden
hails of poison
time's thrown me through
and I believe I've come to learn
that turnin' round
is to become confusion
and the gold's no good for spending
and the poison's hungry waiting

What can you leave behind
when you're flyin' lightning fast
and all alone?
Only a trace, my friend,
spirit of motion born
and direction grown.
A trace that will not fade
in frozen skies
your journey will be
and if her shadow doesn't seem much company
who said it would be?

There is the highway
and the homemade lovin' kind
the highway's mine
and us ramblers are getting the travelling down
you fathers build with stones
that stand and shine
heaven's where you find it
and you can't
take too much with you
but daddy, don't you listen
it's just this highway talkin'

La noche huele a ausencia
La casa esta muy fría
Un mal presentimiento
Me dobla las rodillas

Te busco en el espacio
De mi angustiada prisa
Y solo encuentro rasgos
De tu indudable huida

A dónde vas, por qué te vas
Por qué dejaste un gesto
De ti por cada esquina

Si te llevaste tanto
En solamente un día
No te costaba nada
Cargar, con tus manías

Se te olvidó el aroma
Y el eco, de tu risa
Se te olvidó llevarme
Pedazo, de mi vida

Hablando con tu foto, y la melancolía
Después de largas horas
Por fin se asomo el día

Pero mi fe se pierde
Buscando mi agonía
Una señal más claras
Para entender la vida

A dúnde vas, por qué te vas
Dejaste mil fantasmas
Detrás de las cortinas

Si te llevaste tanto
En solamente un día
No te costaba nada
Cargar, con tus manías

Se te olvido el aroma
Y el eco, de tu risa
Se te olvido llevarme
Pedazo, de mi vida

Si te llevaste tanto
En solamente un día
No te costaba nada
Cargar, con tus manías

Se te olvidó el aroma
Y el eco, de tu risa
Se te olvidó llevarme
Pedazo, de mi vida

No te costaba nada
Cargar, con tus manías

Se te olvidó el aroma
Y el eco, de tu risa
Se te olvidó llevarme

Pedazo, de mi vida·

Crashing, hit a wall
Right now I need a miracle
Hurry up now, I need a miracle

Stranded, reaching out
I call your name but you're not around
I say your name but you're not around

I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'd be here when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
Don't let me down

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Running out of time
I really thought you were on my side
But now there's nobody by my side

I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'd be here when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
Don't let me down

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Oh, I think I'm losing my mind now, yeah, yeah
Oh, I think I'm losing my mind now

I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope
That you'd be here when I need you the most
So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down
Don't let me down

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down
Don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Olvida, que algún día nos quisimos,
las promesas que hicimos,
por favir olvidalas.

Prometo,
si algún día yo te encuentro,
como dos buenos amigos,
saludarnos sin rencor.

Yo empiezo,
una vida nueva mi amor,
y creo,
que tú has de hacerlo también,
y nunca pienso,
en que tú mi amor,
estés , siempre así,
sin un querer.

Tratar de alejarnos,
es mejor para nosotros,
pues nunca nos comprendimos,
y esa es la realidad.

Yo empiezo,
una vida nueva mi amor,
y creo,
que tú has de hacerlo también,
y nunca pienso,
en que tú mi amor,
estés , siempre así,
sin un querer.

Tratar de que olvides,
que algún día nos quisimos,
las promesas que hicimos,
por favor olvídalas,
por favor olvídalas,

por favor olvídalas.
