Driving Towards the Daylight é o décimo-primeiro álbum de estúdio do guitarrista
de blues-rock
estadunidense
Joe
Bonamassa.
Joe Bonamassa (Utica-NY, 8 de Maio de 1977) é um guitarrista
de blues-rock
estadunidense.
O primeiro disco-solo (A New Day Yesterday), lançado em 2000, é um
testemunho de amor ao rock dos anos 60 e 70. Joe começa com o blues-rock
Cradle Rock, um clássico do guitarrista irlandês Rory Gallagher e Walk in My
Shadows dos britânicos do Free. A faixa título é uma porrada tirada do
segundo álbum do Jethro Tull (Stand Up, 1969). Em If Heartaches Were Nickels,
Bonamassa convida o tecladista Gregg Allman (The Allman Brothers Band) e o
ícone da guitarra Leslie West, fundador do mitológico grupo Mountain. A
sonoridade meio anos 70 deve-se ao produtor Tom Doud, que trabalhou com Derek
& The Dominos e The Allman Brothers. Don t Burn Down That Bridge é uma
reverência aos ingleses do Cream (leia-se Eric Clapton) o timbre da guitarra é
idêntica a clássica Sunshine Of Your Love. O guitarrista mostra que também é um
compositor competente no rock Nuthin´ I Wouldn´t Do e no blues Trouble Waiting.
O disco ainda conta com a participação do guitarrista Rick Derringer, outra
referência importante em sua formação.
Look
upon a mountain
Waitin' on a train
Baby I know what's wrong
And it still happened again
Waiting on my destiny
Learning from my abilities
Who was wrong and
Who was right and
Do we even know why we are fighting?
So take your eyes off of me
And look upon the churning sea
Driving
towards the daylight
Running from the midnight
Trying to get my way home
Running from the spotlight
Trying to find the daylight
Trying to get back home
Rusty
strings on my old guitar
Speaks volumes of who you are
So never did I think it was you
It was me, one of the chosen few
Who will it be, oh the next time?
Hopefully one with more sense of mind
So where did you go?
Always will see
It's a story of you and me
Driving towards the daylight
Running from the midnight
Trying to get my way home
Running from the spotlight
Trying to find the daylight
Trying to get back home
Driving towards the daylight
Running from the midnight
Trying to get my way home
Running from the spotlight
Trying to find the daylight
Trying to get my way home
Driving towards the daylight
Running from that midnight
Trying to get my way home
Running from the spotlight
Trying to find the daylight
Trying to get my way home.
