Georgian classical pianist Khatia Buniatishvili plays the Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 by Edvard Grieg. Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse conducted by Tugan Sokhiev. Composed in 1868, it was the only concerto that the Norwegian composer completed. It is one of Grieg’s most popular works and among the most popular of all piano concerti.
The concerto is in three movements:
Allegro molto moderato (A minor)
Adagio (D-flat major)
Allegro moderato molto e marcato – Quasi presto – Andante maestoso (A minor F major A minor A major)
The first movement is noted for the timpani roll in the first bar that leads to a dramatic piano flourish. The movement is in the Sonata form. The movement finishes with a virtuosic cadenza and a similar flourish as in the beginning.
The second movement is a lyrical movement in D-flat major, which leads directly into the third movement.
The third movement opens in A minor 4/4 time with an energetic theme (Theme 1), which is followed by a lyrical theme in F major (Theme 2). The movement returns to Theme 1. Following this recapitulation is the 3/4 A major Quasi presto section, which consists of a variation of Theme 1. The movement concludes with the Andante maestoso in A major, which consists of a dramatic rendition of Theme 2 (as opposed to the lyrical fashion with which Theme 2 is introduced).

This melody is mostly known because it was a musical sequence to the opening and closing credits of then-popular ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ in 1970ies. It was altered for several times, from original mostly soothing-gloomy tone to the uplifting, stating that the host of the show is going to lift up the mood of every viewer eventually. In 1970, the creator of the song, Sonny Curtis, did the dissimilar version of it as a separate single.
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all

How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all

You're gonna make it after all.

Um bê com a bê -a bá
Um bê com e bê -e bé
Um bê com i bê -e bi
Um bê com o bê -o bó
Olha vamos estudar que é melhor

Estudei com a dona Filomena
Professora da Vila Tacauã
Lá no quadro negro de manhã
Escrevia a lição pra se estudar
E depois começava a se arrumar
Enfeitada que só vedete
E a turma olhando a toalete
A pestana nem podia bater
Filomena vendo tudo calada
Gritou pra turma responder:
Um bê com a bê -a bá

Eu sentado na frente estudava
E olhava ligeiro lá pra mesa
Porque tinha cinema sem despesa
Filomena deu pra desconfiar
Porque a turma parou de soletrar
Levantou-se e foi logo perguntando
O que é que vocês estão olhando
Porque é que tem aqui tanto sossego
Eu então respondi a Filomena
Eu estudo é olhando o Quadro negro.
