ALBUM: ACE BACK TO BACK

GENRE: JAZZ
YEAR: 2004

Aces Back to Back is a compact disc featuring a compilation of songs by Bobby Darin plus a DVD containing archival video of Darin. The set was compiled and released in 2004 by Hyena Records in an agreement with the Bobby Darin estate 31 years after Darin's death. According to producer Joel Dorn, "The title says it all. It’s aces back to back, all left hooks and no filler.”
The first seven of the selections were recorded live during Dean Martin Presents: The Bobby Darin Amusement Company, a 1972 television show, and The Bobby Darin Show in 1973. Two songs, "If I Were a Carpenter" and "Simple Song of Freedom", were from an unreleased live recording in 1969. Two songs were culled from Darin's Big Sur sessions.
Rounding out the compilation are Darin's "milk recordings," a collection of songs featured on a radio show sponsored by the American Dairy Association in the 1960s.

Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
When I want you in my arms
When I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

When I feel blue in the night
And I need you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
Anytime night or day
Only trouble is, gee whiz
I'm dreamin' my life away

I need you so that I could die
I love you so and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
Anytime night or day
Only trouble is, gee whiz
I'm dreamin' my life away

Não negues, confessa
Que tens certa pena
Que as mais raparigas
Te chamem morena.

Pois eu não gostava,
Parece-me a mim,
De ver o teu rosto
Da cor do jasmim.

Eu não... Mas enfim
É fraca a razão,
Pois pouco te importa
Que eu goste ou que não.

Mas olha as violetas
Que, sendo umas pretas,
O cheiro que têm!
Vê lá que seria,
Se Deus as fizesse
Morenas também!

Tu és a mais rara
De todas as rosas;
E as coisas mais raras
São mais preciosas.

Há rosas dobradas
E há-as singelas;
Mas são todas elas
Azuis, amarelas,

De cor de açucenas,
De muita outra cor;
Mas rosas morenas,
Só tu, linda flor.

E olha que foram
Morenas e bem
As moças mais lindas
De Jerusalém.
E a Virgem Maria
Não sei... Mas seria
Morena também.

Moreno era Cristo.
Vê lá depois disto
Se ainda tens pena
Que as mais raparigas
Te chamem morena!

I talk to you but it's not the same as touching you
And every time you whisper my name, I wanna run to you
We'll be together, and it won't be long, it won't be long
But it feels like forever, and it's hard to be strong

CHORUS 1:
Baby 'cause I'm missing you now
And it's driving me crazy
How I'm needing you baby
I'm missing you now
Can't wait 'til I'm alone with you
To show you how I'm missing you now

Wishing you were here by my side is all that I can do
My arms around my pillow at night, they should be holding you
Thought I was stronger, how could I know?, how could I know?
I can't take this much longer
It's so hard on my soul
CHORUS 2:
Baby 'cause I'm missing you now
And it's driving me crazy
I gotta be with you baby
I'm missing you now
Don't know what I'm gonna do
The way I'm missing you now, oh

Baby I just can't wait
'Til I see your face
Chase away this lonliness inside

When you're close to my heart
Right here in my arms
Then and only then
Will I be satisfied
Missing you now
I know we'll be together, and it won't be long, it won't be long
But it feels like forever
And it's hard to be strong
Baby, cause I'm missing you now
And it's driving me crazy
How I'm needing you, baby
I'm missing you
Can't wait to be alone with you
To show you how I'm missing you

Missing you, missing you
Baby, I should be holding you, kissing you
I'm missing you now
Don't know what I'm gonna do
The way I'm missing you
Missing you, missing you now

And it's driving me crazy...
