COUNT YOUR BLESSING INSTEAD OF SHEEP
DIANA KRALL
SONGWRITER: IRVING BERLIN
COUNTRY: CANADA
ALBUM: CHRISTMAS SONGS
LABEL: VERVE
GENRE: CHRISTMAS MUSIC
YEAR: 2005

Christmas Songs is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall, performed with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. It was released on October 26, 2005 by Verve Records. This is Krall's first full-length album of Christmas songs (not counting her 1998 EP Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas), and her first studio album with a big band. The album was released on vinyl for the first time on October 14, 2016.
Tad Hendrickson of JazzTimes stated "Krall gets a ton of help on her Christmas album from the well-drilled Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra as well as from the usual peeps in her own bands. The singer doesn't work too hard to sell it, preferring to stay in the pocket, and the solos are short all the way around, but it all sounds swingin', fun and jazzy". John Bungey of The Times noted "If your idea of a perfect Yuletide is Jimmy Stewart on the telly and Bing on the radio, and you believe that, musically, it's all been downhill since 1955, then Krall's album will suit perfectly".
When I'm worried
And I can't sleep
I count my blessings
Instead of sheep
And I fall asleep
Counting
My blessings
When my bankroll
Is getting small
I think
Of when I had
None at all
And I fall asleep
Counting
My blessings

I think about
A nursery
And I picture
Curly heads
And one by one
I count them
As they slumber
In their beds
If you're worried
And you can't sleep
Just count
Your blessings
Instead of sheep
And you'll
Fall asleep
Counting
Your blessings

I think about
A nursery
And I picture
Curly heads
And one by one
I count them
As they slumber
In their beds
If you're worried
And you can't sleep
Just count
Your blessings
Instead of sheep
And you'll
Fall asleep
Counting
Your blessings.

Thomas Francis Dorsey Jr. (November 19, 1905 – November 26, 1956) was an American jazz trombonist, composer, conductor and bandleader of the big band era. He was known as the "Sentimental Gentleman of Swing" because of his smooth-toned trombone playing. His technical skill on the trombone gave him renown among other musicians. He was the younger brother of bandleader Jimmy Dorsey. After Dorsey broke with his brother in the mid-1930s, he led an extremely popular and highly successful band from the late 1930s into the 1950s. He is best remembered for standards such as "Opus One", "Song of India", "Marie", "On Treasure Island", and his biggest hit single, "I'll Never Smile Again".
Marie, Marie, Marie
Marie, the dawn is breaking
Marie, (ooh, Marie) you'll soon be waking
To find you heart is aching
And tears (and tears) will fall (will fall) as you recall
The moon in all it's splendor
A kiss (ooh, a kiss) so very tender
The words, "Will you surrender
To me, (Marie), Marie, (Marie-ee)?"
Marie, you'll soon be waking
To find you heart is aching
And tears (and tears) will fall (will fall) as you recall
The moon in all it's splendor
A kiss (ooh, a kiss) so very tender
The words, "Will you surrender
To me, (Marie), Marie, (Marie) Marie (Marie-ee-ee)?"

SONGWRITER: GREG LAKE
COUNTRY: U. K.
ALBUM: BRAIN SALAD SURGERY
LABEL: MANTICORE
GENRE: ROCK
YEAR: 1973

Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released on 19 November 1973 by their own record label, Manticore Records, and distributed by Atlantic Records.
Following the tour in support of the last album, Trilogy(1972), the group acquired rehearsal facilities to work on new material, which would blend classical and rock themes. In order to control things, they launched their own record company, Manticore, in March 1973. The album was recorded from June to September at Olympic and Advision Studios, and mixed in October 1973 at AIR Studios in London. As were all the group's previous works, it was produced by Greg Lake. The album includes a cover designed by H. R. Giger.
Released to a mixed critical response, it has begun to receive more favourable reviews with time. Brain Salad Surgery continued the group's commercial success, reaching number 2 in the United Kingdom and number 11 in the United States, and eventually gaining Gold certifications in both countries. In its support, the trio embarked on their largest world tour to date, including a headlining spot at the California Jam festival.
Do you want to be an angel
Do you want to be a star
Do you want to play some magic on my guitar?
Do you want to be a poet
Do you want to be my string?
You could be anything
Do you want to be the lover of another
Undercover? You could even be the man on the moon

Do you want to be the player
Do you want to be the string?
Let me just tell you something
It just don't mean a thing
You see it really doesn't matter
When you're buried in disguise
By the dark glass on your eyes
Though your flesh has crystalised
Still you turn me on.

Do you want to be the pillow where I lay my head
Do you want to be the feathers lying in my bed?
Do you want to be a colour cover magazine
Create a scene
Every day a little sadder
A little madder
Someone get me a ladder

Do you want to be the singer
Do you want to be the song?
Let me tell you something
You just couldn't be more wrong
You see I really have to tell you
That it all gets so intense
From my experience
It just doesn't seem to make sense
Still you turn me on.

Up until now I've learned to live without love
Like a ship without a sail, wandering aimlessly lost
I never knew how it felt to lose my control
Now that I've found you, this is all so new

You and me, we've got a destiny
Starting tonight we'll be together
You and me, this is what love should be
And it's gonna be right, now and forever

Darlin', inside your eyes I can see mysteries there
And you're melting the ice surrounding me, I'm no longer scared
I feel you inside my soul and I'm captured tonight
But don't let go, this is paradise

You and me, we've got a destiny
Starting tonight we'll be together
You and me, this is what love should be
And it's gonna be right, if you tell me
There's a heaven up above, then that's what I'll believe
'cause you're the one thing that I'm so sure of

I feel you inside my soul and I'm captive tonight
But don't let go, this is paradise

You and me, we've got a destiny
Starting tonight we'll be together
You and me, this is what love should be
And it's gonna be right, now and forever

You and me, we've got a destiny
Starting tonight we'll be together
You and me, this is what love should be
And it's gonna be right

Woo ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh.
