Rebel Yell is the second studio album by English rock musician Billy Idol. It was released on 10 November 1983, by Chrysalis Records. After the release of his 1982 eponymous debut album, Idol continued his collaboration with Keith Forsey and Steve Stevens. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York. Initially recording without a drummer, utilizing only the electronic drum machine LinnDrum, Forsey and Stevens later decided to hire Thommy Price to play drums on some of the songs. Musically, Rebel Yell is a rock album with a strong influence of new wave music. The cover sleeve and images were shot by Brian Griffin. Idol got the idea of the album's title after attending a party with The Rolling Stones and drinking the Rebel Yell whiskey.

Upon its release, Rebel Yell received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success. In the United States, it peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 and also peaked into the top ten in other countries, such as Canada, Germany and New Zealand. The Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) certified it double platinum for shipment of two million copies across the United States. Four singles were released from the album. The accompanying music videos for all singles received heavy airplay on television channel MTV.

William Michael Albert Broad (born 30 November 1955), known professionally as Billy Idol, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor who holds dual British and American citizenship. He first achieved fame in the 1970s emerging from the London punk rock scene as a member of Generation X. Subsequently, he embarked on a solo career which led to international recognition and made Idol a lead artist during the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" in the United States. The name "Billy Idol" was inspired by a schoolteacher's description of him as "idle".

Idol began his music career in late 1976 as a guitarist in the punk rock band Chelsea. However, he soon left the group. With his former bandmate Tony James, Idol formed the band Generation X. With Idol as lead singer, the band achieved success in the United Kingdom and released three albums on Chrysalis Records before disbanding. In 1981, Idol moved to New York City to pursue his solo career in collaboration with guitarist Steve Stevens. His debut studio album, Billy Idol(1982), was a commercial success. With music videos for singles "Dancing with Myself" and "White Wedding" Idol soon became a staple of then-newly established MTV.

Idol's second studio album, Rebel Yell(1983), was a major commercial success, featuring hit singles "Rebel Yell" and "Eyes Without a Face". The album was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) for shipment of two million copies in the US. In 1986, he released Whiplash Smile. Having accumulated three UK top 10 singles ("Rebel Yell", "White Wedding" and "Mony Mony") Idol released a 1988 greatest hits album entitled Idol Songs: 11 of the Best; the album went platinum in the United Kingdom. Idol then released two studio albums, Charmed Life(1990) and the concept album Cyberpunk(1993).

Idol spent the second half of the 1990s out of the public eye focusing on his personal life. He made a musical comeback with the release of Devil's Playground (2005) and again with Kings & Queens of the Underground(2014).

Can't Get Enough is the third studio album by American R&B/disco singer Barry White, released on August 6, 1974 by the 20th Century label.

The album topped the R&B albums chart, his third album to do so. It also topped the Billboard 200 and peaked at #4 on the UK Albums Chart. The album included two Billboard R&B number-one singles, "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" and "You're the First, the Last, My Everything". Both were also successful on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #1 and #2 respectively. Both singles were also hits on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at #8 and #1 respectively. The album was digitally remastered and reissued on CD on March 19, 1996 by Island/Mercury Records.

Village Voice critic Robert Christgau mockingly wrote: "Inspirational Clichés: 'doin' our own thing,' 'different strokes for different folks,' 'rather fight than switch.' Inspirational Emphases: 'very important,' 'very very very very true,' 'truly truly.' Inspirational Epithet: 'hope-to-die woman.' Inspirational Drum Sound:'thwop.'"

In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked the album at number 281 the magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and in 283 in a 2012 revised list.

Barry Eugene Carter (born September 12, 1944 – July 4, 2003), better known by his stage name Barry White, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer and composer.

A two-time Grammy Award–winner known for his distinctive bass-baritone voice and romantic image, his greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with The Love Unlimited Orchestra, crafting many enduring soul, funk, and disco songs such as his two biggest hits: "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe".

During the course of his career in the music business, White achieved 112 gold albums worldwide, 41 of which also attained platinum status. White had 20 gold and 10 platinum singles, with worldwide record sales in excess of 100 million records, and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. His influences included James Cleveland, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and Marvin Gaye.

When I Look in Your Eyes is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall, released on June 8, 1999 by Verve Records. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, the first time in 25 years that a jazz album was nominated in that category, and won two awards for Best Jazz Vocal and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 42nd Grammy Awards.

Diana Jean Krall OC OBC(born November 16, 1964) is a Canadian jazz pianist and singer, known for her contralto vocals. She has sold more than 6 million albums in the US and over 15 million albums worldwide. On December 11, 2009, Billboard magazine named her the second Jazz Artist of the Decade (2000–09), establishing her as one of the best-selling artists of her time.

Krall is the only jazz singer to have had eight albums debuting at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums. To date, she has won three Grammy Awards and eight Juno Awards. She has also earned nine gold, three platinum, and seven multi-platinum albums.

In 1993, Krall released her first album, Stepping Out, which she recorded with John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton. It caught the attention of producer Tommy LiPuma, who produced her second album, Only Trust Your Heart(1995).

Her third album, All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio(1996), was nominated for a Grammy and continued for 70 weeks in the Billboard jazz charts. Love Scenes(1997) quickly became a hit record with the trio of Krall, Russell Malone(guitar) and Christian McBride (bass).

In August 2000, Krall paired with Tony Bennett for a 20-city tour. They paired again for a song on the TV series Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...

Orchestral arrangements by Johnny Mandel provided the background for the album When I Look In Your Eyes(1999). The band mix was kept, following arrangements on The Look of Love(2001) created by Claus Ogerman; this record achieved platinum status and reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200. The title track from the album, a cover of the Casino Royale standard popularized in the late 1960s by Dusty Springfield and Sérgio Mendes, reached number 22 on the adult contemporary chart.

In September 2001, Krall began a world tour. Her concert at the Paris Olympia was recorded and released as her first live record, Diana Krall – Live in Paris. The album included covers of Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are" (a hit on U.S. smooth jazz radio) and Joni Mitchell's "A Case Of You".

The 2001 movie "The Score" (US and Germany), starring Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando, featured a recording of Krall's entitled: "I'll Make It Up As I Go." This song accompanies the film's ending credits (chapter 12) and was composed by fellow Canadian, David Foster.

After marrying Costello, Krall worked with him as a lyricist and began to compose her own songs, resulting in the álbum The Girl in the Other Room. The album, released in April 2004, quickly rose to the top five in the United Kingdom and made the Australian top 40 album charts.

She also joined Ray Charles on his Genius Loves Company album in 2004 for the song "You Don't Know Me."

In late May 2007, Krall was featured in a Lexus ad campaign. That year she also sang "Dream a Little Dream of Me" with piano accompaniment by pianist Hank Jones. Quiet Nights was released on March 31, 2009.

Krall produced Barbra Streisand's album Love Is the Answer, released on September 29, 2009.

In 2011, Krall went on a private retreat to Sri Lanka. In September 2012, she accompanied Paul McCartney at Capitol Studios in a live performance of his album Kisses on the Bottom, which was shown live on the internet. On September 13, 2012, Krall performed "Fly Me to the Moon" at astronaut Neil Armstrong's memorial service in Washington, D.C.

Glad Rag Doll was released on October 2, 2012. Wallflower is her 12th studio album, released on February 3, 2015 by Verve Records. The album was produced by David Foster. Among the composers Krall and Foster tackled were the Eagles(two songs), Elton John and Bernie Taupin("Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word"), 10cc("I'm Not in Love"), Neil Finn ("Don't Dream It's Over"), and Gilbert O'Sullivan ("Alone Again (Naturally)"). The title track is from Bob Dylan's "Bootleg Series." And Paul McCartney gave her his blessing to record a previously unreleased original he'd written for his own jazz-flavored Kisses on the Bottom.

On May 5, 2017, Krall released her thirteenth album, Turn Up the Quiet, through Verve Records. The album was produced by Krall and Tommy LiPuma. The album won a Juno Award as vocal jazz album of the year in 2018.

On September 14, 2018, a joint album between Krall and Tony Bennett, Love Is Here to Stay, was released. The album features the song "Fascinating Rhythm," originally recorded by Bennett in 1949, which earned him a Guinness World Record for the "longest time between the release of an original recording and a re-recording of the same single by the same artist" — 68 years and 342 days.

The Mills Brothers were an American a cappella vocal group of the 20th century in the jazz, swing and pop sector, which can look back on more than 50 years on stage.

The quartet originally consisted of four brothers from Piqua, Ohio:

John (born February 1, 1910, † January 24, 1936), (guitar and tuba)

Herbert (born April 2, 1912, † April 12, 1989), (tenor and saxophone)

Harry (born August 19, 1913, † June 28, 1982), (baritone and trumpet)

Donald (born April 29, 1915, † November 13, 1999), (tenor and saxophone)

The brothers came into contact with vocal music early on through their father John Mills sen., Who was the founder and member of a barbershop quartet called "Four Kings of Harmony". In addition, they received musical training in the church choirs of the Methodist and Baptist congregation in the city. The brothers formed their own quartet under the name "Four Boys and a Guitar" when they were young and had their first appearances in smaller theaters in Ohio during the 1920s. With radio appearances on the broadcaster WLW Radio in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1928, they became nationally known. They were allegedly discovered there by Duke Ellington, who is said to have obtained a record deal with Brunswick Records in New York in 1931.

In 1930 they first appeared in New York under the name "The Mills Brothers". In the first studio appointment on October 12, 1931, her versions of the title" Tiger Rag"/"Nobody's Sweetheart" for the first single emerged, which took first place in the pop hit parade for four weeks and helped the quartet to its first million seller in 1932. The hallmark of the group, which sang a cappella and was only accompanied by a guitar, were deceptively real imitations of bass, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. In 1931 she had her film debut in New York in the number film "The Big Broadcast", which was followed by a number of other film appearances. A tour of Great Britain and appearances at the London Palladium in 1934 made her famous in Europe. After the death of his eldest brother John in 1936, the father, John (born February 11, 1889, † December 8, 1967; he sang the bass), joined the group, which until then still worked as a hairdresser. From then on, the guitarist for the Mills Brothers was Norman Brown.

In 1943 the Mills Brothers had their biggest hit with" Paper Doll", which was sold six million times and took first place on the charts for 12 weeks. Other million sellers were You Always Hurt The One You Love, recorded on February 27, 1944, and "Glow Worm" , created on July 7, 1952, which was also their last number one hit. The group gradually changed their repertoire and recorded records with various bands. In 1957, John Mills withdrew from the group after a leg amputation. The group continued their work as a Terzett and changed their repertoire towards Schlager in the following years.

They had their last hit parade note in November 1968 with "The Ol 'Race Track". After the death of Harry Mills in 1982, the history of the Mills Brothers ended for a few years. Donald wanted to bring his son John into the group and continue as a trio. Herbert couldn't go on stage because of back problems, so Donald and John performed as a duo. In the mid-1990s, they released the CD Still There's You, which contained new songs and old Mills Brothers hits. The two had performances across the United States. Donald wanted to spend the millennium on stage, but died shortly before. John continues the tradition of the Mills Brothers with Elmer Hopper (former member of The Platters). Every year fans of the Mills Brothers from all over the world meet in Piqua.

The Mills Brothers recorded 2.490 recordings in the course of their careers, among others with jazz musicians such as Duke Ellington(1.931), Don Redman(1.931) Ella Fitzgerald(1937) and Louis Armstrong (1.937-1.940). They were the most successful vocal group in the history of popular American music.
