"Enjoy the Silence" is a song by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. Recorded in 1989, it was released as the second single from their seventh studio album, Violator(1990), on 5 February 1990. The single is Gold certificated in the US and Germany. The song won Best British Single at the 1991 BRIT Awards. "Enjoy the Silence" was re-released as a single in 2004 for the Depeche Mode remix project Remixes 81–04, and was titled "Enjoy the Silence (Reinterpreted)" or, more simply, "Enjoy the Silence 04".
Depeche Mode(/dəˌpɛʃ-,diː-,dɪ-/) are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. The group as of now consists of a trio of Dave Gahan (lead vocals and co-songwriting), Martin Gore(keyboards, guitar, co-lead vocals and main songwriting), and Andy Fletcher (keyboards).
Depeche Mode released their debut álbum Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Founding member Vince Clarke left after the release of the album; they recorded A Broken Frame as a trio. Gore took over as main songwriter and, later in 1982, Alan Wilder replaced Clarke, establishing a lineup that continued for 13 years.
The band's last albums of the 1980s, Black Celebration and Music for the Masses, established them as a dominant force within the electronic music scene. A highlight of this era was the band's June 1988 concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl, where they drew a crowd in excess of 60,000 people. In early 1990, they released Violator, an international mainstream success. The following album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, released in 1993, was also a success, though internal struggles within the band during recording and touring resulted in Wilder's departure in 1995.
Depeche Mode has had 54 songs in the UK Singles Chart and 17 top 10 albums in the UK chart; they have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Q included the band in the list of the "50 Bands That Changed the World!". Depeche Mode also ranks number 98 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". In December 2016, Billboard named Depeche Mode the 10th most successful dance club artist of all time. They were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and 2018, and will be inducted as part of the Class of 2020.
Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh my little girl

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
[x2]

Enjoy the silence.

Libre, libre, libre
Libre Como Gaviota 1973

TAKE ME TO CHURCH
demi lovato; cover Hozier
SONGWRITER: Andrew hoozier-byrne
COUNTRY: ireland
ALBUM: take me to the church
LABEL: rubyworks records
GENRE: indie
YEAR: 2013

"Take Me to Church" is a song by Irish musician Hozier. It was released on his debut extended play(EP) and later his self-titled debut album(2014). The song was released as his debut single on 2013 as a free download. Hozier, a struggling musician at the time of its writing, wrote and recorded the song in the attic of his parents' home in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. A mid-tempo soul song, its lyrics use religious terminology to describe a romantic relationship. The song first caught the attention of independent label Rubyworks, where producer Rob Kirwan overdubbed the original demo with live instruments. Only two musicians feature on the track: Andrew Hozier-Byrne (Hozier) and drummer Fiachra Kinder.
The music video contributed to the song's widespread popularity. Directed by Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson of small production company “Feel Good Lost”, it follows a relationship between two men and the subsequent violent homophobic backlash. Upon its YouTube release in September 2013, the video quickly began to go viral, leading to Hozier's subsequent license with Columbia Records US and Island Records UK.
In 2014, the song achieved widespread global popularity, topping the charts in 12 countries and reaching the top 10 in 21 other territories. Aided by music platforms Shazam and Spotify to become a rock radio hit in the US, the song spent 23 consecutive weeks at the top of the Hot Rock Songs chart, tied with Imagine Dragons "Radioactive" as the longest-running number-one in its chart-history (at the time), later crossing over to the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number two in December 2014. The song was nominated for the Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards and has been certified five times platinum in the US.
On 16 April 2016, Hozier released the original Take Me To Church EP on special edition 12-inch vinyl picture disc for Record Store Day UK, the first time the EP was available as a physical release.

My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped her sooner
If the heavens ever did speak
She is the last true mouthpiece
Every sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week

"We were born sick"
You heard them say it
My church offers no absolutes
She tells me, "Worship in the bedroom"
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen, amen, amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

If I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice

To drain the whole sea get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That's a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable?

We've a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me my deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me my deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

No masters or kings when the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence
Than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human, only then I am clean
Amen, amen, amen

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog
At the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins
So you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life.

It was back in '69, like a night mare cryin'
In a hotel bed on the coast
Happy Shanghai girls
Like a pretty string of pearls
And a snow storm up in my nose

I was on my way to heaven, with a funky red 11
And a switchblade job on the side
Hear the music playin' and my heartbeat prayin'
To the airways out in the night

Ouh, radio! I love my radio! My chinese radio
Ouh, radio! I love my radio! My chinese radio
Ouh

Oh, I could write a million stories
Tales of love and hate and pain
And my fears would truly frighten
Any ordinary man

Is there someone out there laughing!
Walking in the pouring rain,
Lord, I'm sure I know the answers
But it's too hard
To explain

Now my head is burning, an' I feel it turning
In an igloo up on the moon
Saying: Lord, have mercy on a guy from Jersey
And it falls back into my room

Just a stranded tourist
An' I wouldn't touch the purest
If I ever get out here alive
While the FM-switches and the green-light digits
Keep in touch with the world outside

Just a river on the run, now
I'm flyin' and I won't touch down
Got nowhere left to run
I get on my knees and pray!
