Domenica "Nikka" Costa (born June 4, 1972) is an American singer whose music combines elements of pop, soul, and blues. She also had a career as a child singer starting in the early 1980s. She is the daughter of music producer Don Costa.
Nikka Costa was born in Tokyo, Japan. Her father Don Costa was a producer and musician. During her childhood Costa was surrounded by famous musicians and traveled around the world with her father.
At age five, Costa recorded a single with Hawaiian singer Don Ho. Italian producers Danny B. Besquet and Tony Renis were working with her father on the album Don Costa Plays the Beatles when they had a brainstorm to produce an album with Nikka singing while her father played acoustic guitar. The album was well received in Europe and Costa became known as a child star. At age 9 Costa sang with Frank Sinatra in an appearance on the lawn of the White House.
Costa's career as a recording artist under her own name started in 1981, when she recorded the song "(Out Here) On My Own" (from the movie Fame). The single reached #72 in Germany, #7 in Switzerland, #32 in the Netherlands, #13 in the Flanders region of Belgium., and #1 in Italy. The álbum Nikka Costa was released outside the U.S. in 1981. Costa toured the world. Her second album Fairy Tales (cuentos de hadas) was released in 1983. Don Costa died of a heart attack shortly after the album was recorded. The pop álbum Here I Am... Yes, It's Me was released to fulfill a contractual obligation in 1989.
After graduating from high school, Costa decided to move away from pop and moved toward funk and soul, becoming influenced by Motown artists.
In 2000, Costa's song "Like A Feather" was featured in a Tommy Hilfiger television advertising campaign. That exposure coupled with the track's music video helped launch her U.S. music career. The álbum Everybody Got Their Something was released in 2001 and reached #120 on the Billboard 200. The title track and "Like a Feather" were radio hits, although the latter did peak at #53 in the United Kingdom. In 2002, Costa was the opening act for Britney Spears' Dream Within a Dream Tour in the US and Canada. In 2005, Costa released the álbum can'tneverdidnothin'. She toured with Lenny Kravitz who also performed on the record. In 2006 she and her husband Justin Stanley recorded and performed the theme to the short-lived CBS sitcom Courting Alex starring Jenna Elfman.
Costa was a guest singer on Mark Ronson's album Here Comes the Fuzz. Ronson has produced some of Costa's songs. Her song "Push & Pull" from the álbum Everybody Got Their Something is included in the soundtrack of the 2001 movie Blow starring Johnny Depp. Her song "Everybody Got Their Something", was used in the soundtrack of the 2009 movie All About Steve starring Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper. Her song "Stuck To You" from the álbum Pebble to a Pearl was used in an episode of Grey's Anatomy in season five and it was used in HMP The Peanuts Movie.
Costa is currently signed with Stax Records. She released the studio album Pebble to a Pearl on October 14, 2008. In 2010 she released the single "Ching Ching Ching" in Europe. The song is notable from a genre change from soul/funk to electro-pop. The single reached #69 in Germany, making it Costa's first single to chart in Germany since "On My Own" in 1981. A new EP titled Pro Whoa was released in 2011. Costa co-wrote the song "Diamonds Made from Rain" on Eric Clapton's 2010 album Clapton. The álbum Nikka & Strings: Underneath and in Between, consisting of covers of rock standards, was released on June 2, 2017.
Midnight, under the moonlight
You're saying with your eyes
What I've always known
Sailor, wherever you wandered
The star that you followed
Was guiding you home

Always, now and forever
I promise to be there, you're never alone

Part II
Midnight, the feeling was so right
We kissed for the first time
That moment I knew
Magic, the sound of the music
It all was so perfect
A dream coming true

Two hearts
Are wishing on one star
Are waiting an answer
Then out of the blue

(There) came a bird flying at last
First time out of the nest
You're the sound of the wings
You're the song that she sings
Just a kiss, that was enough
To begin in this love
For the rest of my life
I'll remember that night

Midnight, the feeling was so right
We kissed for the first time
That moment I knew
Magic, the sound of the music
It all was so perfect
A dream coming true

Two hearts
Are wishing on one star
Are waiting an answer
Then out of the blue

(There) came a bird flying at last
First time out of the nest
You're the sound of the wings
You're the song that she sings
Just a kiss, that was enough
To begin in this love
For the rest of my life
I'll remember that night

Midnight, under the moonlight

Siempre me traiciona la razón
Y me domina el corazón
No sé luchar contra el amor

Siempre me voy a enamorar
De quien de mí no se enamora
Y es por eso que mi alma llora

Y ya no puedo más, ya no puedo más
Siempre se repite esta misma historia
Y ya no puedo más, ya no puedo más
Estoy harto de rodar como una noria

Vivir así es morir de amor
Y por amor tengo el alma herida
Por amor
No quiero más vida que su vida
Melancolía

Vivir así es morir de amor
Soy mendigo de sus besos
Soy su amigo
Y quiero ser algo más que eso
Melancolía

Siempre se apodera de mi ser
Mi serenidad se vuelve locura
Y me llena de amargura

Siempre me voy a enamorar
De quien de mí no se enamora
Y es por eso que mi alma llora
Y ya no puedo más, ya no puedo más
Siempre se repite la misma historia
Y ya no puedo más, ya no puedo más
Estoy harto de rodar como una noria

Vivir así es morir de amor
Y por amor tengo el alma herida
Por amor
No quiero más vida que su vida
Melancolía

Vivir así es morir de amor
Soy mendigo de sus besos
Soy su amigo
Y quiero ser algo más que eso
Melancolía

Vivir así es morir de amor
Y por amor tengo el alma herida
Por amor
No quiero más vida que su vida
Melancolía

Vivir así es morir de amor
Soy mendigo de sus besos
Soy su amigo

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU
CRIS MONTEZ
SONGWRITERS: HARRY WARREN & MACK GORDON

ALBUM: THE MORE I SEE YOU
LABEL: A & M RECORDS
GENRE: POP
YEAR: 1966

Chris Montez (born Ezekiel Christopher Montanez on January 17, 1943) is an American guitarist and vocalist, whose stylistic approach has ranged from rock & roll to pop standards and Latin music. His rock sound is exemplified in songs such as his 1962 hit "Let's Dance", which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. When his early music's popularity began to fade, he switched to a more traditional role as a popular singer of soft ballads, scoring hits with “The More I See You” and “Call Me" in 1966. He has also recorded in Latin styles. Over the intervening years, he has continued to work in all three modes.
Montez grew up in Hawthorne, California, influenced by the Latino-flavored music of his community and the success of Ritchie Valens. He studied music composition at El Camino College.
In 1962, he recorded the single "Let's Dance" on Monogram Records (written and produced by Jim Lee). It went to No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and to No.2 on the UK Singles Chart (spending four weeks there). The follow-up, "Some Kinda Fun", was a lesser hit in the U.S., but reached Nº.10 in the U.K. in January 1963. Nonetheless, both records sold over one million copies, and were awarded gold discs.
Montez toured with Clyde McPhatter, Sam Cooke, The Platters, and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. The Beatles opened London, York and Northampton concerts for him while Montez was performing with Tommy Roe. Montez commented "Who are these guys The Beatles? I try to keep up with the British scene, but I don't know their work."
There will be many other nights like this
And I'll be standing here with someone new
There will be other songs to sing, another Fall, another Spring
But there will never be another you

There will be other lips that I may kiss
But they won't thrill me like yours used to do
Yes, I may dream a million dreams but how can they come true
If there will never ever be another you

There will be other lips that I may kiss
But they won't thrill me like yours used to do
Yes, I may dream a million dreams but how can they come true
If there will never ever be another you.

THE BEATLES

YEAR: 1969

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The group, whose best-known line-up comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, are regarded as the most influential band of all time. They were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways; the band later explored music styles ranging from ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, the Beatles revolutionised many aspects of the music industry and were often publicised as leaders of the era's youth and sociocultural movements.
Led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the Beatles built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960, initially with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass. The core trio of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison, together since 1958, went through a succession of drummers, including Pete Best, before asking Starr to join them in 1962. Manager Brian Epstein moulded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding their domestic success after their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. As their popularity grew into the intense fan frenzy dubbed "Beatlemania", the band acquired the nickname "the Fab Four", with Epstein, Martin and other members of the band's entourage sometimes given the informal title of "fifth Beatle".
By early 1964, the Beatles were international stars, leading the "British Invasion" of the United States pop market and breaking numerous sales records. They soon made their film debut with A Hard Day's Night (1964). From 1965 onwards, they produced records of greater complexity, including the albums Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966) and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), and enjoyed further commercial success with The Beatles (also known as "the White Album", 1968) and Abbey Road (1969). In 1968, they founded Apple Corps, a multi-armed multimedia corporation that continues to oversee projects related to the band's legacy. After the group's break-up in 1970, all four members enjoyed success as solo artists. Lennon was shot and killed in December 1980, and Harrison died of lung cancer in November 2001. McCartney and Starr remain musically active.
The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of 600million units worldwide. They are the best-selling act in the US, with certified sales of 183million units. They hold the record for most number-one albums on the UK Albums Chart, most number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and most singles sold in the UK. The group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and all four main members were inducted individually between 1994 and 2015. In 2008, the group topped Billboard's list of the all-time most successful artists on the Billboard Hot 100. The band received seven Grammy Awards, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award (for Best Original Song Score for the 1970 film Let It Be) and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards. Time magazine named them among the 20th century's 100 most important people.
Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969 by Apple Records. Named after the location of EMI Studios in London, the cover features the group walking across the street's zebra crossing, an image that became one of the most famous and imitated in popular music. The album's initially mixed reviews were contrasted by its immediate commercial success, topping record charts in the UK and US. The lead single "Something"/"Come Together" was released in October and topped the US charts.
The album incorporates genres such as blues, rock and pop, and makes prominent use of Moog synthesizer, sounds filtered through a Leslie speaker, and tom-tom drums. It is the Beatles' only album recorded exclusively through a solid-state transistor mixing desk, which afforded a clearer and brighter sound than the group's previous records. Side two contains a medley of song fragments edited together to form a single piece. The sessions also produced a non-album single, "The Ballad of John and Yoko" backed with "Old Brown Shoe".
Producer George Martin returned on the condition that the Beatles adhere to the discipline of their earlier records. They found the album's recording more enjoyable than the preceding Get Back sessions, but personal issues still permeated the band. Production lasted from February to August 1969, and the closing track "The End" marked the final occasion that all four members recorded together. John Lennon privately left the group six days before the album's release; Paul McCartney publicly declared the band's break-up the following April.
Upon release, detractors found Abbey Road to be inauthentic and bemoaned the production's artificial effects. Since then, many critics have hailed the album as the Beatles' finest; in particular, "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" are considered among the best songs George Harrison wrote for the group. The album has also been ranked as one of the Beatles' best-selling, including a multi-platinum certification by the RIAA. Shortly after its release, the cover was scrutinised in connection with widespread rumours of McCartney's purported death. EMI Studios was also renamed Abbey Road Studios in honour of the album.
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's all right

Little Darling
It's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's all right

Little Darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little Darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's all right

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
It's all right
It's all right.
