HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTES
SONGWRITERS: KENNY GAMBLE & LEON HUFF
COUNTRY: U. K.
ALBUM: I MISS YOU
LABEL: PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL RECORDS
GENRE: SOUL
YEAR: 1972

Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes were an American soul and R&B vocal group. One of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s, the group's repertoire included soul, R&B, doo-wop, and disco. Founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the middle of the 1950s as The Charlemagnes, the group is most noted for several hits on Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International label between 1972 and 1976, although they performed and recorded until Melvin's death in 1997. Despite group founder and original lead singer Harold Melvin's top billing, the Blue Notes' most famous member was Teddy Pendergrass, their lead singer during the successful years at Philadelphia International. The remaining members of the Blue Notes have reunited for Soul Train Cruises in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
"If You Don't Know Me by Now" is a song written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, and recorded by the Philadelphia soul musical group Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. It became their first hit after being released as a single in September 1972, topping the US R&B chart and peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
"If You Don't Know Me by Now" was originally written for Labelle(a trio led by Patti LaBelle) but they never recorded it. Much like the issue with "I Miss You" and The Dells passing on it, the song's composers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff gave it to Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, which featured Teddy Pendergrass as lead vocalist. In addition to the single release, the track was included on their debut álbum I Miss You.
Patti LaBelle later made the song part of her concert repertoire in 1982; a live version appears on her 1985 album, Patti.
"If You Don't Know Me by Now" has since been recorded by a number of other artists, most notably the English pop and soul band Simply Red, who took their version to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989.
The song was chosen as one of the "Songs of the Century" by the RIAA
Sing the song, everybody
C'mon

If you don't know me by now (wunderbar)
You will never, never, never know me
Oooh

Now all the things
That we've been through
You should understand me
Like I understand you

Now girl I know the difference
Between right and wrong
I ain't gonna do nothing
To upset our happy home

Don't get so excited
When I come home
A little late at night
You know we only act like children
When we argue fuss and fight

If you don't know me, baby
(You will never never never know me)
No, you won't (oooh)
Oooh, yeah, c'mon

Oh, if you don't know me, girl
(You will never never never know me)
You... (Uuuh)

We've all got
Our own funny moods
I've got mine
I bet you woman you've got yours too

You better trust in me like I trust in you
As long as we've been together
It should be so easy to do

Just get yourself together
Or we might as well say goodbye
What good is a love affair
When you can't see eye to eye

If you don't know me, baby
(You will never never never know me)
No, you won't (Oooh)
No, you won't, no, you won't, no, you won't

Twenty long years we've been together
(You will never never never know me)
(Ooohh) ooh ooh-ooh oh

Well...
Oooh (You will never never never know me)
No, you won't (oooh).

LABEL: ELEKTRA RECORDS
GENRE: JAZZ
YEAR: 1989

Simply Red are a British soul and pop band which formed in Manchester in 1985. The lead vocalist of the band is singer and songwriter Mick Hucknall, who, by the time the band initially disbanded in 2010, was the only original member left. Since the release of their debut studio album Picture Book(1985), they have had ten songs reach top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, including "Holding Back the Years" and "If You Don't Know Me by Now", both of which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. They have had five number one albums in the UK, with their 1991 album, Stars, being one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history.
At the 1992 and 1993 Brit Awards, they received the award for Best British Group. They received three Grammy Award nominations: for Best New Artist in 1987, and "Holding Back the Years" and "If You Don't Know Me by Now" for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The band re-formed in 2015. Simply Red has sold over 50 million albums.
Simply Red's version of "If You Don't Know Me by Now" was a major commercial success on the charts in 1989, giving the band their second US number one (also topping the Adult Contemporary chart), and peaking at number 38 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. This version also won the Grammy Award for the Best R&B Song of 1989. The track was also a number-one hit in Australia and New Zealand; in the latter country, it was the best-selling single of 1989. It reached number 2 in the UK, becoming the band's second top-10 hit after the re-issue of "Holding Back the Years" in 1986, which also reached number 2.
According to the producer Stewart Levine, he didn't want too much orchestration on the record, and went with a two-part harmony instead of a three-part harmony. Mick Hucknall admitted he loved Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' version, and stated he danced to their music when he was 13.
This version can be heard in the films American Psycho(2000) and Class Action(1991) and appears in the game Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol. It is also available to download for the Xbox 360 game Lips, which contains the music video.

IF YOU GO AWAY

SCOTT WALKER
SONGWRITERS: JACQUES BREL & ROD MCKUEN
COUNTRY: U.K.+U. S. A.
ALBUM: SCOTT 3
LABEL: PHILIPS
GENRE: ART POP
YEAR: 1969

Noel Scott Engel(January 9, 1943 – March 22, 2019) better known by the stage name Scott Walker, was a British-American singer-songwriter, composer and record producer who resided in England. Walker was known for his baritone voice and an unorthodox career path which took him from 1960s teen pop icon to 21st-century avant-garde musician. Walker's success was largely in the United Kingdom, where his first four solo albums reached the top ten. He lived in the UK from 1965 and became a UK citizen in 1970.
Rising to fame in the mid-1960s as frontman of the pop music trio the Walker Brothers, he began a solo career with 1967's Scott, moving toward an increasingly challenging style on late-1960s baroque pop albums such as Scott 3 and Scott 4(both 1969). After sales of his solo work started to decrease, he reunited with the Walker Brothers in the mid-1970s. From the mid-1980s onward, Walker revived his solo career while moving in an increasingly avant-garde direction; of this period in his career, The Guardian said "imagine Andy Williams reinventing himself as Stockhausen". Walker's 1960s recordings were highly regarded by the 1980s UK underground music scene, and gained a cult following.
Walker continued to record until 2018. He was described by the BBC upon his death as "one of the most enigmatic and influential figures in rock history".
Scott 3 is the third solo album by singer songwriter Scott Walker.
Upon release in 1969, it met with slightly fewer sales than his previous albums, as pop audiences struggled to keep pace with Walker's increasingly experimental approach, though it still reached #3 on the UK Album Chart. The dense, lush string arrangements by Angela Morley seemed to evoke a Vegas-style lounge crooner atmosphere, but one tinted with surreal drones and touches of dissonance.
The album's muted reception and subsequent failure of his short-lived BBC TV series signified the beginning of Walker's decline in popularity. Since its release, however, it has been regarded by many of Walker's fans as a favourite. The title of the compilation Fire Escape in the Sky: The Godlike Genius of Scott Walker is taken from the lyrics of the song "Big Louise", and the 2006 documentary Scott Walker: 30 Century Man is named after "30 Century Man".
Marc Almond covered the song "Big Louise" in 1982 with his band Marc and the Mambas on the album Untitled.
In September 2019, Thom Yorke named "It's Raining Today" as one of the eight pieces of music he would take to an imaginary desert island in the BBC Radio 4 show Desert Island Discs.
Though a majority of the tracklist features original songs from Walker, the final three tracks are covers of compositions by Jacques Brel.
If you go away
On this summer day
Then you might as well
Take the sun away
All the birds that flew
In the summer sky
When our love was new
And our hearts were high
And the day was young
And the night was long
And the moon stood still
For the night bird's song
If you go away

But if you stay
I'll make you a day
Like no day has been
Or will be again
We'll sail the sun
We'll ride on the rain
And talk to the trees
And worship the wind

Then if you go
I'll understand
Leave me just enough love
To fill up my hand

If you go away
As I know you will
You must tell the world
To stop turning, turning
'til you return again
If you ever do
For what good is love
Without loving you?
Can I tell you now
As you turn to go
I'll be dying slowly
'til the next hello

But if you stay
I'll make you a night
Like no night has been
Or will be again
I'll sail on your smile
I'll glide on your touch
I'll talk to your eyes
That I love so much

But if you go
I won't cry
Though the good is gone
From the word goodbye

If you go away
As I know you must
There'll be nothing left
In this world to trust
Just an empty room
Full of empty space
Like the empty look
I see on your face
And I'd have been the shadow
Of your shadow
If it might have kept me
By your side.

Yo no quisiera hablar de despedidas
Me duele mucho me parte el alma pero que puedo hacer
Ahora recojo mi arrastrado orgullo
Hoy me marcho de ti, no lo vas a creer

Yo no quisiera provocarte pena

Yo no quisiera provocarte pena
