“Daniel Castro is the latest and one of the
greatest blues guitarists to come bursting out of the
highly
competitive West Coast scene. To the classic music of B.B. King, Albert King,
and Albert
Collins he has added the three T’s taste,
tone, and technique. His
raw passion warms your soul
while
his deep groove kicks your butt on fine, fresh originals and well chosen
covers.”

If you're down an'
out, an' you hurt really good
Come on over, to the place where I work
An' all your loneliness, I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you
Don't be afraid, come on in
You might run across, yeah, some of your old friends
All your loneliness, I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you
Come on in, sit right
here
Let's rap awhile
Ya see I'm kinda lonely too, yeah
An' loneliness is a very bad thing
If ya let it get the best of ya
An' loneliness can get ya down, you know
Yeah, yeah, are you comfortable now?
Yeah, yeah, that's outta sight
Yeah, as I was sayin' before
Loneliness can get you down, an'I have heard of, ah
Loneliness blowin' some good people's mind, ya know?
But ya can't do that
This is a big world, this is a big world
An' there's too many nice things happenin' in this world
You're a very pretty girl
Where you live?
No, no, no, disregard that, that's okay, that's okay
Most important thing
I wanna know YOU
I say, I wanna know YOU
Uh-huh, ooo-wee, that's groovy, ain't it?)
I'll play the blues for you
I ain't got no big name
Oh Lord, an' I ain't no big star
I'll play the blues for you, on my guitar
All your loneliness, I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you, um!
Because me
Um! woo! um! Woo! Uh-huh, yeah!
Uh-huh! um! Oh!

Le Sony'r Ra (born Herman Poole Blount, May
22, 1914 – May 30, 1993), better known as Sun Ra, was an American jazzcomposer,
bandleader, piano and synthesizerplayer, and poetknown for his experimental music,
"cosmic" philosophy, prolific output, and theatrical performances. For much of his career, Ra led
"The Arkestra", an ensemble with an ever-changing name and flexible
line-up.
Born and raised in Alabama, Blount
became involved in the Chicago jazzscene
during the late 1940s. He soon abandoned his birth name, taking the name Le
Sony'r Ra, shortened to Sun Ra (after Ra, the
Egyptian god of the Sun). Claiming to be an alien from Saturnon a mission to
preach peace, he developed a mythical persona and an idiosyncratic credo that
made him a pioneer of Afrofuturism.
Throughout his life he denied ties to his prior identity saying, "Any name
that I use other than Ra is a pseudonym."
His widely eclectic and avant-gardemusic
echoed the entire history of jazz, from ragtimeand early New Orleans hot jazz, to swing music, bebop, free jazzand fusion. His
compositions ranged from keyboard solos to works for big bandsof over
30 musicians, along with electronic excursions, songs, chants, percussion
pieces, and anthems. From the mid-1950s until his death, Ra led the musical
collective The Arkestra (which featured artists such as Marshall Allen, John Gilmoreand June Tysonthroughout
its various iterations). Its performances often included dancers and musicians
dressed in elaborate, futuristiccostumes inspired by ancient Egyptianattire and the Space Age.
(Following Ra's illness-forced retirement in 1992, the band remained active as The Sun Ra
Arkestra, and, as of 2018, continues performing under
the leadership of veteran Ra sideman Marshall Allen.)
Though his mainstream success was limited,
Sun Ra was a prolific recording artist and frequent live performer, and
remained influential throughout his life for his music and persona. He is now
widely considered an innovator; among his distinctions are his pioneering work
in free improvisationand modal jazzand his
early use of electronic
keyboardsand synthesizers. Over
the course of his career, he recorded dozens of singles and over one hundred
full-length albums, comprising well over 1,000 songs, making him one of the
most prolific recording artists of the 20th century.
Blue Delight is a jazzalbum by free jazzpioneer Sun Ra.
The album was the first in a short-term
recording deal with major label A&M Recordson their "Modern Masters Jazz Series" imprint.
The
album was recorded at Variety Recording Studios, New York on December 5, 1988
featuring a 19-piece group that included several Arkestra members or veterans.
Eight tracks were used for the Blue Delight album.
Other recordings from this session were released three years later by Rounder Recordson the album Somewhere
Else, released shortly before Sun Ra's death.
Currently the Blue Delight album is out of print physically (the album is
available on iTunesand other
digital outlets) and the copyright on the original album was passed on by
A&M's current owner, Universal Music,
to Sun Ra’s estate’s holding company, Sun Ra LLC, in 2016.
If I had Money
I'd buy those people a place to stay
If I had money
I'd buy those people a place to stay
But all I got is a dime
And I got so little time
If I had faith
I'd get down on my knees
If I had faith,
(oooh)
I'd get down on my knees
But all I got is bad
religion
And I got nowhere, nowhere to pray
If I had magic
I'd clean up the whole mess
If I had magic
I'd clean up that awful mess
But I'm just a
working man
And I'm hopping for the best
If I had money...

Baby, I'm a midnight
lover
Baby, I'm a midnight lover
Like a rocket flashin' in the night
Leave a message, baby, now I'm out of sight
Hang on to myself, I'm huntin' for feelin'
A big game
On my mind
I'm clubbin' 'round the midnight
Lookin' for love
Like I'm dance' in the wind tonight
Baby, I'm a midnight lover
Burnin' out your secret desire
Wanna be your midnight lover
Lightin' up the stars with your fire
Baby, I'm a midnight lover
Turnin' on your secret desires
Gotta be your midnight lover
Wake up for the night is fire
An emotion smashin' up my brain
Like a secret longin' drivin' me insane
Just gotta go now, still lookin' for a feelin'
A big game
On my mind
I'm clubbin' 'round the midnight
Lookin' for love
Like I'm dance' in the wind tonight
Baby, I'm a midnight lover
Burnin' out your secret desire

What
if we could pause time and stay in a certain moment forever? Talented artist
Tyra Chantey has recently released her new single, ‘Stay In The Moment,’ so we
sat down with her to chat about her new release, what it means to her, and her
upcoming plans.
Q:
Congrats on the release of your second single. Can you tell us more about how
‘Stay In The Moment’ came to be and what it means to you?
A: The
lyrical content of SITM is pretty straightforward – it’s about being in the
moment. About how you never know if when you make it to your goals, whether
that feeling is going to exceed whatever you’re experiencing now. You
don’t know what the best moments in your life are going to be. It might just be
being with your family one evening. The overhyped moments are not always what
they seem to be. I’m on a journey right now where I’m trying to share my music
with as many people as possible, but at the same time, I want to enjoy the
journey. That’s what SITM is about.
The song came together super quickly; it was
kind of like a freestyle if you listen to the lyrics. I knew I wanted to mix
that poppy sound of the instrumental with a soulful vocal style. The way that
I’m singing it is kind of low register, but when you hear the instrumental, you
think that it’s something that’s going to go up. Writing a pop song that stays
in the same register, that never really has that euphoric break, is something I
haven't done before. I’m really inspired by artists like Nina Simone and Tracy
Chapman, who can put a soulful twist on something poppy.(EPIDEMIC SOUND

You woke up from a

Haven’t seen you

Ripped your heart,
got a brand new one
Since you got lost in

See it in your eyes
when we leave for the night
Way to many
heartbreaks still on your mind
Let the flame burn
down for a while
Let the frame blur
out for a while...

behind that pretty brown face
I see you climbing
been tryna find your own way
Last see you smiling
