LOVE IN THE DARK

ADELE
SONGWRITERS: ADELE ADKINS & SAMUEL DIXON
COUNTRY: U. K.
ALBUM: 25
LABEL: XL RECORDS
GENRE: SOUL
YEAR: 2015

“Love in the Dark” is a song recorded by Adele, taken from her third studio album, 25. The song was written by Adele with Sam Dixon, who also produced the song. The song appears as the eighth track on the album.
25 is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter Adele, released on 20 November 2015 by XL Recordings and Columbia Records. The album is titled as a reflection of her life and frame of mind at 25 years old and is termed a "make-up record". Its lyrical content features themes of Adele "yearning for her old self, her nostalgia", and "melancholia about the passage of time" according to an interview with the singer by Rolling Stone, as well as themes of motherhood and regret. In contrast to Adele's previous works, the production of 25 incorporated the use of electronic elements and creative rhythmic patterns, with elements of 1980s R&B and organs. Like when recording 21, Adele worked with producer and songwriter Paul Epworth and Ryan Tedder, along with new collaborations with Max Martin and Shellback, Greg Kurstin, Danger Mouse, the Smeezingtons, Samuel Dixon, and Tobias Jesso Jr.
25 received generally positive reviews from music critics, who commended its production and Adele's vocal performance although some were critical of its formulaic nature and Adele's lack of taking risk. Issued nearly five years after the release of her sophomore album, the internationally successful 21(2011), the album was widely anticipated and Adele's record labels promoted the album with an extensive marketing campaign. 25 became a massive commercial success, debuting at number one in 32 countries and breaking first-week sales records in multiple countries, including the United Kingdom and United States. In the US, the album sold over 3.38 million copies in its first week of sales, marking the largest single-week sales for an album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. 25 was the world's best-selling album of the year for 2015, with 18.4 million copies sold within the year, and has gone on to sell over 22 million copies worldwide, making it the fourth-best selling album of the 21st century, the second-best selling album of the 2010s(behind 21), and one of the best-selling albums of all-time. Following 21, it was certified Diamond by the RIAA, making Adele the only artist of the 2010s to achieve this certification with two albums.
Four singles were released to promote the album, with "Hello" becoming an international number one song and the fastest selling digital single in the US, with over a million copies sold within a week of its release, "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" charted within the top 10 and "When We Were Young" and "Water Under the Bridge" charted within the top 20 across Europe and North America. Credited for impacting the music industry by encouraging a renewed interest in buying physical releases rather than downloading or streaming and much like 21, for saving the dwindling sales of the global music industry, 25 won the 2016 Brit Award for British Album of the Year, and the 2017 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. To promote the album, Adele embarked on her third worldwide concert tour, Adele Live 2016. It started on 29 February 2016 and ended on 30 June 2017. The concert broke numerous attendance records across the globe and grossed $167.7 million.
Take your eyes off of me so I can leave
I'm far too ashamed to do it with you watching me
This is never ending, we have been here before
But I can't stay this time 'cause I don't love you anymore

Please, stay where you are
Don't come any closer
Don't try to change my mind
I'm being cruel to be kind

I can't love you in the dark
It feels like we're oceans apart
There is so much space between us
Baby, we're already defeated
Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Everything changed me

You have given me something that I can't live without
You mustn't underestimate that when you are in doubt
But I don't want to carry on like everything is fine
The longer we ignore it, all the more that we will fight

Please, don't fall apart
I can't face your breaking heart
I'm trying to be brave
Stop asking me to stay

I can't love you in the dark
It feels like we're oceans apart
There is so much space between us
Baby, we're already defeated
Ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Everything changed me

We're not the only ones, I don't regret a thing
Every word I've said, you know I'll always mean
It is the world to me that you are in my life
But I want to live and not just survive

That's why I can't love you in the dark
It feels like we're oceans apart
There is so much space between us
Baby, we're already defeated
'Cause, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

Everything changed me
And I-I-I-I-I don't think you can save me.

Guarda che lago, che luna c'è
Le stelle in cielo brillano per noi
In questa notte stregata
La mia serenata canterò per te

Quanto ti amo, tu non lo sai
Nei miei pensieri tu sola sei
Accanto a te sarò sempre
Ti cercherò tra la gente
Quanto ti amo, ora lo sai
Nei tuoi pensieri sempre io sarò

Guarda che notte stellata
D'amore per noi
Io t'amo, sai
Tu mi ami già

Guarda che notte stellata
D'amore per noi
Io t'amo, sai
Tu mi ami già.

Si yo me quedo aquí
Seguiría siempre igual
Tu amor por mí
Por eso me voy
No te olvidaré
Lo sé, mi amor, tu recuerdo
Yo guardaré

And I will always love you
Will always love you
You, my darling, you

En mi pasado estás tú
Es lo que me llevo de ti
Dime adiós sin llorar
Este amor hoy me duele más que a ti

And I will always love you, I
Will always love you

Que en la vida te vaya bien
Y que tengas todo lo que soñaste ayer
Te deseo amor, felicidad
Que ante todo encuentres el amor

And I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always
Love you.

Two women sitting in a bar
Blind man playing on his guitar
Barcelonian air is sounding blue
Everything's the same but I don't have you

When you push love aside
You get the colours of the night
Colours of the night with just one hue

I'm in that place and time
Love's got its own reason and rhyme
They say you will love with love
'Till love is through with you

And I'm living in a world of just one hue
Everything is Picasso blue
Living in a world without you
Everything is Picasso blue

I go to the same places
I see the same faces
Everything's the same
But I don't have you

Love's got its own reasons
Love's got its own seasons
I'm in that place and time
Until this pain is through

And I'm living in a world of just one hue
Everything is Picasso blue
Living in a world without you
Everything is Picasso blue

Come on 'till the top
Cheesy cheesy, give me that

When you push love aside
You get the colours of the night
The colours of the night in just one hue

I'm in that place and time
Love's got its reasons and its rhyme
They say you will love with love
'Till love is through with you

And I'm living in a world of just one hue
Everything is Picasso blue
Living in a world without you
Everything is Picasso blue
I say everything is Picasso blue
Everything is Picasso blue

Ain't a thing I can do until this time is through
But wait and wait for you
Wait, wait for you
Everything is Picasso blue

Yeah, for all you lovers in the house
I know you full of love to us in here
That's true.
