SHOT IN THE DARK

JOHN MAYER
SONGWRITER: JOHN CLAYTON MAYER
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: SOB ROCK
LABEL: COLUMBIA RECORDS
GENRE: SOFT ROCK
YEAR: 2021

John Clayton Mayer(/ˈmeɪ.ər/MAY-ər; born October 16, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Born and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but left and moved to Atlanta in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters. After their split, Mayer continued to play local clubs, refining his skills and gaining a following. After his appearance at a 2001 South by Southwest Festival, he was signed to Aware Records, and eventually to Columbia Records, which released his first extended play Inside Wants Out. His following two studio albums—Room for Squares(2001) and Heavier Things (2003)—performed well commercially, achieving multi-platinum status. In 2003, he won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his single "Your Body Is a Wonderland".
By 2005, Mayer had moved away from the acoustic music that characterized his early records, and begun performing the blues and rock music that had originally influenced him as a musician. He collaborated with blues artists such as B. B. King, Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton. Forming the John Mayer Trio, he released a live album, Try!, in 2005 and his third studio album Continuum in 2006. Both albums received positive reviews, and Continuum earned Mayer a 2007 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. He also won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change". That album was followed by Battle Studies in 2009, a return to pop, with a Battle Studies World Tour.
After having several controversial incidents with the media, Mayer withdrew from public life in 2010 and began work on his fifth studio album, Born and Raised, which drew inspiration from the 1970s pop music of Laurel Canyon. However, the discovery of a granuloma on his vocal cords delayed the release of the album until May 2012, and forced him to cancel the planned tour. The album received a generally favorable reception, though was less commercially successful than his previous work. Mayer began performing as a singer again in January 2013, and that year released his sixth studio album, Paradise Valley, which incorporates country music influences. By 2014, he had sold a total of over 20 million albums worldwide. His seventh album, The Search for Everything, a loose concept album based around the theme of a romantic break-up, was released in 2017. Mayer released his latest album Sob Rock, inspired by 1980s soft rock music, in July 2021.
Sob Rock is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter John Mayer, released on July 16, 2021, by Columbia Records. The single "New Light", released in May 2018, is included on the album, as are Mayer's two singles from 2019, "I Guess I Just Feel Like" and "Carry Me Away". The lead single "Last Train Home" was released on June 4, 2021, and features guest vocals from Maren Morris. Mayer toured the United States with Dead & Company from August through October 2021 and will embark on a solo tour in support of the album in 2022.
It's a hard run
Loving like we do
Takes way too long to get over you
And remember the line we drew
But call me over and I'm comin' through

We're searching for the night together
Where we don't fall apart
Might be now and it might be never
It's just another shot in the dark
It's just another shot in the dark

And I wonder what it all means
Strange conversation with you in my dreams
And I don't know what I'm gonna do
I've loved seven other women and they all were you

We had a run of bad romances
They always missed the mark
So close your eyes now and take your chances
It's just another shot in the dark
It's just another shot in the dark

I want you in the worst way
Is the gate code still your birthday?

If you thought you met your Casanova
And he left you with a broken heart
Remember when it's done and over
It was only just a shot in the dark
It was only just a shot in the dark
It's just another shot in the dark
It's just another shot in the dark, come on now

It was just another
It was just another now (It was just another)
It was just another now (It was just another)
It was just another now (It was just another)
It was just another now.

LET THERE BE LOVE

OASIS
SONGWRITER: NOEL GALLAGHER
COUNTRY: U. K.
ALBUM: DON’T BELIEVE THE TRUTH
LABEL: BIG BROTHER
GENRE: ROCK
YEAR: 2005

Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. They were originally known as the Rain before evolving into Oasis, and initially consisted of Liam Gallagher(lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs(guitar), Paul McGuigan(bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll(drums). Upon returning to Manchester, Liam's older brother Noel(lead guitar, vocals) joined as a fifth member, finalising the band's core line-up. During the course of their existence, they had various line-up changes, though the Gallagher brothers remained as the staple members.
Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe(1994). The following year they recorded(What's the Story) Morning Glory?(1995) with drummer Alan White, in the midst of a chart rivalry with Britpop peers Blur. Spending ten weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart,(What's the Story) Morning Glory? was also an international chart success, and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. In addition, it stands as the fifth-best-selling album in the UK, and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their disputes and wild lifestyles. In 1996, Oasis performed two nights at Knebworth for an audience of 125,000 each night, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. In 1997, Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now; becoming the fastest-selling album in UK chart history. However, its popularity declined quickly.
McGuigan and Arthurs left in 1999 as Oasis released Standing on the Shoulder of Giants(2000). They were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem Archer and former Ride guitarist Andy Bell. White departed in 2004, replaced by Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock as touring members. Oasis released three more studio albums, Heathen Chemistry(2002), Don't Believe the Truth(2005) and Dig Out Your Soul(2008). The group abruptly disbanded after the departure of Noel in August 2009.
As of 2009, Oasis have sold over 70 million records worldwide. They are among the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart, with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US. They won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for(What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards.
Don't Believe the Truth is the sixth studio album by English rock band Oasis. It was released on 30 May 2005 by Big Brother Recordings. It reached number one in the UK Albums Chart with first week sales of 237,865, and is the 32nd fastest selling album ever in the UK. The album entered the US charts at number 12, with 65,000 copies sold in the first week, the highest any Oasis album had reached there since 1997's Be Here Now, although its chart stay was brief. Don't Believe the Truth went triple platinum in the UK in the first week of 2006 (900,000+ sales), and in the US has sold more than 200,000 copies.
As with the previous album, Don't Believe The Truth had significant writing contributions from members other than chief songwriter Noel Gallagher, and the album is the first where all duties were divided between the band members. On some of the tracks regular bass player Andy Bell handled guitar, while Gem Archer and Noel Gallagher contributed bass to other songs. Don't Believe the Truth is the first Oasis record to feature the drumming of Zak Starkey, an auxiliary member of Oasis, who performed and toured with them following the departure of longtime drummer Alan White, and appeared on the DVD praising all members' contributions. The album received positive reviews from critics, and many cited it as Oasis's best album in a decade.
Liam Gallagher also had a larger impact on the album through his developing songwriting. Noel has said that the album is his favourite of Oasis' last four, because all members contributed to it. This, he claims, has given it a different feel from a typically Noel-written Oasis album.
The band embarked on a massive worldwide tour that started off at the London Astoria for their Don't Believe the Truth Tour, visiting 26 countries and playing to 3.2million people at a total of 113 concerts. This resulted in the making of Lord Don't Slow Me Down, a film later released on DVD. To date, the album has sold more than six million copies worldwide.
One, two, three, four

Who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me?
Who stole the soul from the sun in a world come undone at the seams?
Let there be love
Let there be love

I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream
Suspended clear in the sky are the words that we sing in our dreams
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love

Come on baby blue
Shake up your tired eyes
The world is waiting for you
May all your dreaming fill the empty sky

But if it makes you happy
Keep on clapping
Just remember I'll be by your side
And if you don't let go, it's gonna pass you by

Who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me?
Who stole the soul from the sun in a world come undone at the seams?
Let there be love
Let there be love

Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love
Let there be love.

Aquí me tiene bien clavado
Soltando las penas en un bar
Brindando por su amor
Aquí me tiene abandonado
Bebiendo tequila pa' olvidar
Y sacudirme así el dolor

Dónde estás bendita
Dónde te has metido
Abre un poco el corazón
Deja amarte corazón
Ven y sácame de este bar

Estoy clavado, estoy herido
Estoy ahogado en un bar
Desesperado en el olvido amor
Estoy ahogado en un bar

Sé que te buscan demasiados
Que te pretenden cantidad
Pero eso no es felicidad
Y mi amor nunca se raja
Y mi amor nunca jamás te va a fallar
Nunca jamás

Dónde estás maldita
Dónde te has metido
Abre un poco el corazón
Deja amarte corazón
Ven y sácame de este bar

Estoy clavado, estoy herido
Estoy ahogado en un bar
Desesperado en el olvido amor
Estoy ahogado en un bar

Muy desesperado, muy en el olvido
Estoy ahogado en un bar

Déjate querer, amor
Quiero ser tu todo
Y tu corazón
Ven a rescatarme, amor
Yo quiero ser tu sol
Yo quiero ser tu mar, no

Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Eh eh

Aquí me tiene embriagado
Llorando de rabia en un bar
Brindando por su amor

Aquí me tiene bien clavado
Bebiendo tequila pa' olvidar todo
No es justo amor

Muy desesperado
Muy en el olvido
Estoy ahogado en un bar
Muy desesperado
Muy en el olvido
No, no, no, no, no
Estoy ahogado en un bar, yeah!
