"Hello Mary Lou" is a song written by U.S. singer Gene Pitney first recorded by Johnny Duncan in 1960, and later by Ricky Nelson in 1961.
Nelson's version, issued as the B-side of his No. 1 hit "Travelin' Man", (Imperial 5741), reached No. 9 on the Billboard music charts on May 28, 1961. In the United Kingdom, where it was released as an A-side (with "Travelin' Man" as the B-side), it reached No. 2. It was also a hit in much of Europe, particularly Norway, where it spent 14 weeks at No. 1. In New Zealand, the song reached No. 4.
A 1991 reissue following the song's use in a TV advert gave the song a second chart run, peaking at No. 45 in the UK Singles Chart.
The song features an influential guitar solo by James Burton, often cited by later guitarists such as Brian May. Piano is by Ray Johnson, who had succeeded Gene Garf as Nelson's regular session pianist in November 1959. Other musicians on the record include Joe Osborne on bass and Ritchie Frost on drums.
The song appears on Nelson's sixth album Rick Is 21.

Hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou, I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou, we'd never part
So hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart

You passed me by one sunny day
Flashed those big brown eyes my way
And oo I wanted you forever more
Now I'm not one that gets around
Swear my feet stuck to the ground
And though I never did meet you before

I said, hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou, I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou, we'd never part
So hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart

I saw your lips I heard your voice
Believe me I just had no choice
Wild horses couldn't make me stay away
I thought about a moonlit night
My arms about good an' tight
That's all I had to see for me to say

Hey, hey, hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou, I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou, we'd never part
So hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart
So hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart

Yes hello Mary Lou, goodbye heart.

É água no mar, é maré cheia ô
Mareia ô, mareia
É água no mar

É água no mar, é maré cheia ô
Mareia ô, mareia
É água no mar

Contam que toda tristeza
Que tem na Bahia
Nasceu de uns olhos morenos
Molhados de mar

Não sei se é conto de areia
Ou se é fantasia
Que a luz da candeia alumia
Pra gente contar

Um dia morena enfeitada
De rosas e rendas
Abriu seu sorriso de moça
E pediu pra dançar

A noite emprestou as estrelas
Bordadas de prata
E as águas de Amaralina
Eram gotas de luar.

Era um peito só
Cheio de promessa era só
Era um peito só cheio de promessa

Era um peito só
Cheio de promessa era só
Era um peito só cheio de promessa

Quem foi que mandou
O seu amor
Se fazer de canoeiro
O vento que rola das palmas
Arrasta o veleiro
E leva pro meio das águas
de Iemanjá
E o mestre valente vagueia
Olhando pra areia sem poder chegar
Adeus, amor

Adeus, meu amor
Não me espera
Porque eu já vou-me embora
Pro reino que esconde os tesouros
De minha senhora

Desfia colares de conchas
Pra vida passar

The Today sessions were held in RCA's Studio C, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, March 10–12, 1975, and marked the last timeElvis Presley would record in a studio. Elvis last recorded at Studio C, Hollywood in 1972 where he recorded the gold records "Burning Love" and "Separate Ways". At this time, Elvis was 40 years old. He was accompanied by his then-current girlfriend, Sheila Ryan. In the 2005 FTD TODAY release from these sessions, Elvis asked her to "step up here Sheila, let me sing to ya baby" on Take 1 of Don McLean's "And I Love You So". He continued to make "And I Love You So" and "Fairytale" a part of his live concerts until his death. On stage, he often referred to "Fairytale" as the story of his life.

The old home town looks the same,
As I step down from the train,
And there to meet me is my mama and papa
Down the road I look and there runs Mary
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home

Yes, they'll all be there to meet me,
All creatures smiling sweetly
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home

The old house is still standing,
Though the paint is cracked and dry
And there's an old oak tree that I used to play on
Down the lane I'll walk with my sweet Mary
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home

Then I awake and look around me
Cold gray walls surround me
And I realize that I was only dreamin'
There's a guard and there's a sad old padre
Arm and arm we'll walk at daybreak
Again I'll touch the green, green grass of home

Yes, they'll all be there to meet me
In the shadow of that old oak tree
As they lay me beneath the green, green grass of home

Non sei più accanto a me
Ma io non ti scorderò
Sento ancora il dolce viso tuo
Tra le mie mani

Quanto amore ancora c´è
Questa stanza cerca te
Quanto tempo che mi porto ormai
Ti aspetterò

Tu dolce amore mio
Tornerai qui da me
Tornerò
Ti aspetterò

Dolce amore mio
Sono solo in questa stanza
Che è vuota senza te
In questo silenzio senza vita
C´è ancora il tuo profumo
Ritorna, io ti aspetterò
