é um saxofonista e compositor estadunidense. É conhecido em todo o mundo desde
a década de 1960 como um dos importantes nomes do jazz.
Shorter já gravou dezenas de discos como leader, além de
ter aparecido em diversas gravações de artistas como no Art Blakey's
Jazz Messengers, com quem tocou no fim dos anos 1950, no segundo quinteto de Miles
Davis nos anos 1960 e no grupo Weather
Report nos anos 1970. Várias de suas composições hoje são consideradas standards
do jazz.
Cindy
Blackman (born November 18, 1959), sometimes known as Cindy Blackman-Santana,
is an American jazzand rock
drummer. Blackman is best known for recording and touring with Lenny Kravitz.
Blackman has recorded several jazz albums under her own name, and has performed
with Pharoah Sanders,
Sonny Simmons,
Ron Carter,
Sam Rivers,
Cassandra Wilson,
Angela Bofill,
Buckethead,
Bill Laswelland Joe Henderson.
Tony
Williamsis her main drumming influence. In
1997 she recorded Multiplicity as a drum teaching video. "To me, jazz is
the highest form of music that you can play because of the creative
requirements", says Blackman. Blackman is married to rock guitarist Carlos
Santana.
