THE CRYING GAME
BOY GEORGE
SONGWRITER: GEOFF STEPHENS
ALBUM: THE CRYING GAME
LABEL: SPAGHETTI RECORDS
GENRE: POP MUSIC
YEAR: 1993

"The Crying Game" is a song written and composed by Geoff Stephens. It was first released by Dave Berry in July 1964. It reached #5 on the UK Singles Chart. Session guitarist Big Jim Sullivan played lead guitar on Berry's version of the song, and Jimmy Page supported.
"The Crying Game" was covered by Boy George in 1992, and both this version and the original Dave Berry recordings were used as the theme to the 1992 Neil Jordan movie The Crying Game. Boy George's version of the song was produced by the Pet Shop Boys and reached #22 on the UK Singles Chart in 1992, #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S., and #1 in Canada on the RPM 100 national singles chart the following year. Thus it became the biggest solo hit that he achieved in the US.
This version was also featured in the Jim Carrey comedy film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. This was a joke reference to the film The Crying Game, with which it shared a plot point.

I know all there is to know about the crying game
I've had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
You're sayin' goodbye

One day soon I'm gonna tell the moon about the crying game
And if he knows maybe he'll explain

Why there are heartaches, why there are tears
And what to do to stop feeling blue
When love disappears

I know all there is to know about the crying game
I've had my share of the crying game

First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are
You're sayin' goodbye

Don't want no more of the crying game
Don't want no more of the crying game
Don't want no more of the crying game

Don't want no more of the crying game

Deixa a cidade, formosa morena,
linda pequena
e volta ao sertão
beber a água da fonte que canta
e se levanta do meio do chão

Se tu nasceste, cabocla cheirosa
cheirando à rosa
do peito da terra
volta pra vida serena da roça
daquela palhoça
no alto da serra

E a fonte a cantar, chuá, chuá,
e as "água" a correr, chuê, chuê,
parece que alguém que, cheio de mágoas,
deixasse, quem há de dizer, a saudade,
no meio das águas, rolando também.

A lua branca de luz prateada
faz a jornada no meio do céu
como se fosse uma sombra altaneira
da cachoeira, fazendo escarcéu

Quando essa luz, lá na altura distante,
doira ofegante, no poente, a cair,
dá-me esta trova que o pinho descerra,
que eu volto pra serra,

que eu quero partir!

Little ghetto boy
Playing in the ghetto street
Whatcha' gonna do when you grow up
And have to face responsibility?

Will you spend your days and nights in the pool room?
Will you sell caps of madness to the neighborhood?
Little ghetto boy
You already know how rough life can be
'Cause you've seen so much pain and misery

Little ghetto boy
Your daddy was blown away
He robbed that grocery store
Don't you know that was a sad, sad old day?
All of your young life
You've seen such a misery and pain
The world is a cruel place
And it ain't gonna change

You're so young
You've got so far to go
But I don't think you'll reach your goal
Young man, hanging by the pool room door

Look out...

Little ghetto boy
When, when, when you become a man
You can make things change, hey hey
If you just take a stand
You gotta believe in yourself and in all you do
You've gotta fight to make it better
You'll see how other people will start believing too
My son, things will start to get better

Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better
Everything has got to get better...

Meu bem, na hora que você chega perto
Eu me esqueço do errado e do certo
Quase fico louco, ah eu fico louco

E quando fico sem você, fico triste
E o mundo inteiro sem você não existe
Quase fico louco, ah eu fico louco

Eu quero ter você de qualquer maneira
Mas, você leva tudo na brincadeira
Diz que me quer, fala que sim
Mas, quando chego perto, você foge de mim

Você me diz que estou sendo apressado
E não entende que estou apaixonado
Quase fico louco, ah eu fico louco

Você não vê que é de você que eu preciso
Que, desse jeito, estou perdendo o juízo
Quase fico louco, ah eu fico louco

Eu quero ter você de qualquer maneira
