I know that when you look at me
There's so much that you just don't see
But if you would only take the time
I know in my heart you'd find
Oh a girl that's scared sometimes
Who isn't always strong
Can't you see the hurt in me
I feel so all alone

I wanna run to you
I wanna run to you
Won't ya hold me in your arms
and keep me safe from harm
I wanna run to you
But if I come to you
Tell me will you stay
Or will you run away

Each day, each day I play the role
Of someone always in control
But at night I come home and turn the key
There's nobody there, no one cares for me
Oh woah what's the sense of trying hard to find your dreams
Without someone to share them with
Tell me what does it mean

I wanna run to you
I wanna run to you
Won't ya hold me in your arms
and keep me safe from harm
I wanna run to you
But if I come to you
Tell me will you stay
Or will you run away

Run away, no
I need you here
I need you here to wipe away my tears
To kiss away my fears
No if you only knew how much I wanna run to you
Ya know I wanna run to you

Won't ya hold me in your arms
and keep me safe from harm
I wanna run to you
But if I come to you
Tell me will you stay

Or will you run away

Would you know my name
if I saw you in Heaven?
Would it be the same
if I saw you in Heaven?

I must be strong and carry on,
'Cause I know
I don't belong
here in Heaven.

Would you hold my hand
if I saw you in Heaven?
Would you help me stand
if I saw you in Heaven?
I'll find my way
through night and day,
'Cause I know
I just can't stay
here in Heaven.

Time can bring you down;
time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
have you begging please,
begging please.

Beyond the door
there's peace I'm sure,
And I know
there'll be no more
tears in Heaven.

Would you know my name if I saw you in Heaven?
Would it be the same if I saw you in Heaven?
I must be strong and carry on,

'Cause I know I don't belong here in Heaven

ALBUM: THE ROAD TO ESCONDIDO
LABEL: REPRISE RECORDS
GENRE: ROCK CLÁSSICO
YEAR: 2006

The Road to Escondido is an album by J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton. It was released on 7 November 2006. Contained on this album are the final recordings of Billy Preston, to whom the album is dedicated.
In 2004, Eric Clapton held the Crossroads Guitar Festival, a three-day festival in Dallas, Texas. Among the performers was J.J. Cale, giving Clapton the opportunity to ask Cale to produce an album for him. The two started working together and eventually decided to record an album. A number of high-profile musicians also agreed to work on the album, including Billy Preston, Derek Trucks, Taj Mahal, Pino Palladino, John Mayer, Steve Jordan and Doyle Bramhall II. In a coup, whether intended or not, the entire John Mayer Trio participated on this album in one capacity or another.
Escondido is a city near Cale's hometown of Valley Center, California, in San Diego County. Eric Clapton owned a mansion in Escondido in the 1980s and early '90s. Cale and Clapton thought it would be a good name for the album because of their dual acquaintanceship with the city.
The album won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2008.

When this world got me feeling low
I don't need nowhere else to go
Cause I get all the love I need, from
Three little girls

We're in the garden collecting snails
On the bed reading fairy tales
I get all I'll ever need from
Three little girls

Cause all my world was sad and weary
All my days were winding down
Then you showed me a better way
My three little girls

Lord, you've put me to the test
And lead me through the wilderness
Then you showed me a brighter day
With Three little girls

Julie Rose, and Ellie Mae,
Sophie Belle, You came to stay
You take my breath away
My three little girls

Cause all my world was sad and weary
All my days were winding down
You showed me a better way
My three little girls

Looking in your eyes I see a paradise
This world that I've found
Is too good to be true
Standing here beside you
Want so much to give you
This love in my heart that I'm feeling for you

Let 'em say we're crazy, I don't care about that
Put your hand in my hand baby
Don't ever look back
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart

Chorus:
And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothing's gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now

I'm so glad I found you
I'm not gonna lose you
Whatever it takes I will stay here with you
Take it to the good times
See it through the bad times
Whatever it takes is what I'm gonna do

Let 'em say we're crazy, what do they know
Put your arms around me baby
Don't ever let go
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart

And we can build this dream together
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us

Ooh, all that I need is you
All that I ever need
And all that I want to do
Is hold you forever, ever and ever, hey

(Guitar solo)

And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothing's gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stop us
Nothing's gonna stop us, whoa
Nothing's gonna stop us now, oh no

Hey baby, I know, hey baby, nothing's gonna stop us
Hey baby, woo, nothing, hey baby
Nothing's gonna stop us now yeah
