Come
on along and listen to
The lullaby of Broadway
The hip hooray and ballyhoo
The lullaby of Broadway
The rumble of a subway train
The rattle of the taxis
The daffodils who entertain
At Angelo's and Maxi's
When a Broadway baby says good night
It's early in the morning
Manhattan babies don't sleep tight
Until the dawn
Good night, baby
Good night, the milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight, let's call it a day
Hey!
The band begins to go to town
And everyone goes crazy
You rock-a-bye your baby round
'Til everything gets hazy
Hush-a-bye, I'll buy you this and that
You hear a daddy saying
And baby goes home to her flat
To sleep all day
Good night, baby
Good night, the milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight, let's call it a day
Listen to the lullaby
Of old... Broad...way...

George Benson (Pittsburgh,
22
de Março de 1943)
é um guitarrista
norte-americano
de Smooth
jazz.
ensinasse a tocar.
"Turn
Your Love Around" is a vocal pop/R&Bsingle by George
Benson. The song was written by Bill Champlinof Chicago,
Steve Lukatherof Totoand producer Jay
Graydonto help fill out Benson's 1981
greatest hits album, The George Benson Collection. The
song won a Best R&B Song Grammy Awardat the 25th Grammy Awardsin 1983 for
Champlin, Graydon, and Lukather as its co-writers.
"Turn
Your Love Around" reached number one on the soul singles charts and number
five on the Billboard Hot 100singles charts in early 1982, as well as the top ten on the jazz
chart. It is ranked as the 27th biggest hit of 1982. In Canada, the
song spent two weeks at number 10.
The
original inspiration for the song came to co-songwriter Jay Graydonin the bathroom. He explained to Songfacts: "'Turn Your Love Around'
was a gift, and it's the gift that keeps giving. I was in the bathroom when I
came up with the melody, and I was sitting down, if you get my drift. Well,
I got off the can as fast as I could and got to a cassette machineso I wouldn't forget it. George Benson was coming in town Tuesday, so I had four
days to come up with a song for The George Benson Collection. And I was
gettin' nothing. And then bang! I just came up with this melody
for the chorus when I was in the bathroom."
The
song was one of the first pop hits to feature a Linn LM-1drum machine,
programmed by session drummer Jeff
Porcaro.
