You are the candle, love's the flame
A fire that burns through the wind and rain
Shine your light on this heart of mine
'Till the end of time

You came to me like the dawn through the night
Just shining like the sun
Out of my dreams and into my life
You are the one, you are the one

Said I loved you, but I lied
'Cause this is more than love I feel inside
Said I loved you, but I was wrong
'Cause love can never, ever feel so strong
I Said I loved you, but I lied

With all my soul I've tried in vain
How can mere words my heart explain
This tastes of heaven, so deep, so true
I've found in you

So many reasons, in so many ways
My life has just begun
Need you forever, and I need you to stay
You are the one, you are the one

Said I loved you, but I lied
'Cause this is more than love I feel inside
Said I loved you, but I was wrong
'Cause love can never, ever feel so strong
I Said I loved you, but I lied

You came to me like the dawn through the night
Just shining like the sun
Out of my dreams and into my life
You are the one, you are the one

Said I loved you, but I lied
'Cause this is more than love I feel inside
Said I loved you, but I was wrong
'Cause love can never, ever feel so strong

I Said I loved you
'Cause this is more than love I feel inside
I Said I loved you, but I lied.

Donald McLean III (born October 2, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1971 hit song "American Pie", an 8.5-minute folk rock "cultural touchstone" about the loss of innocence of the early rock and roll generation.
His other hit singles include "Vincent", "Dreidel", a rendition of Roy Orbison's "Crying", a rendition of the Skyliners' "Since I Don't Have You", and "Wonderful Baby".
His composition "And I Love You So" has been sung by Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Helen Reddy, Glen Campbell, and others, and in 2000, Madonna had a hit with a rendition of "American Pie".
In 2004, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In January 2018, BMI certified that "American Pie" and "Vincent" had reached five million and three million airplays respectively.
"And I Love You So" is a popular song written by folk singer and guitarist Don McLean and released on his 1970 debut album, Tapestry. Its chorus features an unusual rhyming scheme for a popular song: A-B-B-A versus the usual A-B-C (or A)-B
Tapestry is the debut studio album by American folk singer Don McLean. The album was originally released by Mediarts Records but was re-launched in 1971 by United Artists after United Artists' purchase of Mediarts. The album was also reissued in 1981 on Liberty Records, but without including the song "Three Flights Up".
The title track "Tapestry" was an inspiration for the formation of the Greenpeace environmental movement. "And I Love You So" is one of McLean's most recorded songs, with versions by artists ranging from Elvis Presley in the 1970s and to Glen Campbell nearly 30 years later. Perry Como had a huge international hit with the song in 1973.
The album was produced by Jerry Corbitt of the Youngbloods.
And I love you so,
The people ask me how,
How I've lived 'till now
I tell them I don't know

I guess they understand
How lonely life has been
But life began again
The day you took my hand

And yes I know how lonely life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around me

And you love me too
Your thoughts are just for me
You set my spirit free
I'm happy that you do

The book of life is brief
And once a page is read
All but love is dead
This is my belief

And yes I know how loveless life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening bring me down
Now that you're around me

And I love you so
People ask me how
How I've lived till now
I tell them I don't know.

Love is a funny thing
Whenever I give it, it comes back to me
And it’s wonderful to be
Giving with my whole heart
As my heart receives
Your love

Oh, ain’t it nice tonight we got each other?
And I am right beside you
More than just a partner or a lover
I’m your friend

When you love someone
Your heartbeat beats so loud
When you love someone
Your feet can’t feel the ground
Shining stars all seem
To congregate around your face
When you love someone
It comes back to you

And love is a funny thing
It’s making my blood flow with energy
And it’s like an awakened dream
As what I've been wishing for, is happening
And it's right on time

Oh, ain't it nice this life we've got each other?
I am right beside you
More than just a partner or a lover
I’m your friend

When you love someone
Your heartbeat beats so loud
When you love someone
Your feet can’t feel the ground
Shining stars all seem
To congregate around your face
When you love someone
When you love someone

We’re gonna give ourselves to love Tonight
Lifting up to touch the starlight
And we will savor every second
We spend together

You and I will
You and I will
You and I will

When you love someone
Your heartbeat beats so loud
When you love someone
Your feet can’t feel the ground

Shining stars all seem
To congregate around your face
When you love someone
It comes back to you.
