Terrence Malick’s latest film Song to Song is centered on Austin, Texas’ music scene and features a whole bunch of musicians, including Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, John Lydon, and others. In a new clip from the movie, Lykke Li and Ryan Gosling play ex-lovers and duet on Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “It Hurts to Be Alone.” Gosling plays the song on a Casio keyboard. Watch it go down below via Billboard. According to the credits, their version of the Bob Marley song was produced by Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich.
Song to Song is about two couples (Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender) who “chase success through a rock‘n’roll landscape of seduction and betrayal,” according to the film's description. The movie premiered last week at SXSW and hits theaters in New York and Los Angeles on March 17. A previously released clip shows Patti Smith giving advice to Rooney Mara

After he breaks your heart
Then you'll be sad
And your teardrops start
Then you'll know how
It hurts to be alone

Just because you think that you're so smart
Going around breaking lover's hearts
Now you're defeated
By your own weapon

After he breaks your heart
Then you'll be sad
And your teardrops start
Then you'll know now
It hurts to be alone.

They say there is a war
Between the man and the woman (ah, ah)
I've never felt like this before
My heart knew that I couldn't (ah)

And then you take me in
And everything in me begins to feel like I belong
Like everybody needs a home
And when I take your hand
Like the world has never held a man
I know I cannot heal the hurt
But I will hold you here forever
If I can, if I can

And then I learned the truth
How everything good in life seems to lead back to you
And every single time I run into your arms
I feel like I exist for love
Like I exist for love
Only for love

I can't imagine how it is
To be forbidden from loving (ah, ah)
'Cause when you walked into my life
I could feel my life begin

Like I was torn apart the minute I was only born
And you're the other half
The only thing that makes me whole
I know it sounds like a lot
But you really need to know
We are leaning out for love
And we will lean for love forever, I know
I love you so

And then I learned the truth
How everything good in life seems to lead back to you
And every single time I run into your arms
I feel like I exist for love
Only for love
And when you say my name
Like white horses on the waves
I think it feels the same
As an ocean in my veins
And you'll be diving in
Like nothing is out of place
And we exist for love
Only for love

And I love you, I love you, I love you
And I love you, I love you, I love you.

Multiple versions of the album were made available to pre-order, including alternate artworks, bundles and a Target-exclusive edition with bonus tracks. Lovato released 2 additional versions of the album, with a deluxe version of the album and an expanded edition of the album that was released digitally including three previously released bonus tracks. Ooh, oh, oh!

It's just a little red wine, I'll be fine
Not like I wanna do this every night
I've been good, don't I deserve it?
I think I earned it, feels like it's worth it
In my mind, mind

Twisted reality, hopeless insanity
I told you I was okay, but I was lying

I was dancing with the devil
Out of control
Almost made it to heaven
It was closer than you know
Playing with the enemy
Gambling with my soul
It's so hard to say no
When you're dancing with the devil
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Yeah, yeah

It's just a little white line, I'll be fine
But soon that little white line is a little glass pipe
Tin foil remedy almost got the best of me
I keep praying I don't reach the end of my lifetime, mm

Twisted reality, hopeless insanity
I told you I was okay, but I was lying

I was dancing with the devil
Out of control
Almost made it to heaven
It was closer than you know
Playing with the enemy
Gambling with my soul
It's so hard to say no
When you're dancing with the devil

Thought I knew my limit, yeah
I thought that I could quit it, yeah
I thought that I could walk away easily
But here I am, falling down on my knees
Praying for better days to come and wash this pain away
Could you please forgive me?
Lord, I'm sorry for dancing with the devil
Oh, yeah, yeah

Dancing with the devil
Out of control
Almost made it to heaven
It was closer than you know (closer than you know)
Playing with the enemy (oh)
Gambling with my soul
It's so hard to say no

When you're dancing with the devil
Mm, yeah, mm.

Yo no sé, no sé, no sé qué pasará
Tu cuerpo frente al mar
Mezclando arena con sal

Pero sé, yo sé, yo sé que no es normal

Sabes lo que te gusta (Ah)
Te gusta (Ah), te gusta (Uh)
Prendiendo fuego en el suelo (Hey)
Pintando estrella en el cielo (Hey hey)
Y te diré lo que quiero

Si tú te quedas conmigo
Bailando toda la noche
