Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, but their musical approach has changed over the years. Originally formed as a psychedelic rock and progressive rock band, they shifted to a heavier sound with their 1970 album Deep Purple in Rock. Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies". They were listed in the 1975 Guinness Book of World Records as "the globe's loudest band" for a 1972 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
Deep Purple have had several line-up changes and an eight-year hiatus (1976–1984). The 1968–1976 line-ups are commonly labelled Mark I, II, III and IV. Their second and most commercially successful line-up consisted of Ian Gillan(vocals) and Roger Glover(bass), who joined founder members Jon Lord(keyboards), Ian Paice(drums) and Ritchie Blackmore(guitar). This line-up was active from 1969 to 1973 and was revived from 1984 to 1989 and again from 1992 to 1993. The band achieved more modest success in the intervening periods between 1968 and 1969 with the line-up including Rod Evans (lead vocals) and Nick Simper(bass, backing vocals), between 1974 and 1976 with the line-up including David Coverdale(lead vocals) and Glenn Hughes(bass, vocals) (and Tommy Bolin replacing Blackmore in 1975), and between 1989 and 1992 with the line-up including Joe Lynn Turner(vocals). The band's line-up(currently including Ian Gillan, and guitarist Steve Morse from 1994) has been much more stable in recent years, although keyboardist Jon Lord's retirement from the band in 2002(being succeeded by Don Airey) left Ian Paice as the last original Deep Purple member still in the band.
Deep Purple was ranked number 22 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock programme, and a poll on radio station Planet Rock ranked them 5th among the "most influential bands ever". The band received the Legend Award at the 2008 World Music Awards. Deep Purple (specifically Blackmore, Lord, Paice, Gillan, Glover, Coverdale, Evans, and Hughes) were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
"Black Night" is a song by British hard rock band Deep Purple, first released as a single in June 1970 and later included on the 25th Anniversary version of their 1970 album, Deep Purple in Rock. It became a hit following its release, peaking at Nº 2 on UK charts, and remains Deep Purple's highest charting UK single. It topped the charts in Switzerland, and is one of only two singles from the band to chart in Ireland, peaking at Nº 4, thus making it the group's only Irish Top 10 hit. It was also the second non-album single penned by the band and also reached number 6 in South Africa.

Black night is not right
I don't feel so bright
I don't care to sit tight

Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home

I don't need a dark tree
I don't want a rough sea
I can't feel, I can't see

Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home

Black night, black night
I don't need black night
I can't see dark night

Maybe I'll find on the way down the line
That I'm free, free to be me
Black night is a long way from home.

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS

THE CARPENTERS
SONGWRITERS: PAUL H. WILLIAMS & ROGER S. NICHOLAS
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: CARPENTERS
LABEL: A & M
GENRE: SOFT ROCK
YEAR: 1971

The Carpenters(officially known as Carpenters) were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen(1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinct soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with numerous singles and several television specials.
The siblings were born in New Haven, Connecticut, and moved to Downey, California, in 1963. Richard took piano lessons as a child, progressing to California State University, Long Beach, while Karen learned the drums. They first performed together as a duo in 1965 and formed the jazz-oriented Richard Carpenter Trio followed by the middle-of-the-road group Spectrum. Signing as Carpenters to A&M Records in 1969, they achieved major success the following year with the hit singles "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun". The duo's brand of melodic pop produced a record-breaking run of hit recordings on the American Top 40 and Adult Contemporary charts, and they became leading sellers in the soft rock, easy listening and adult contemporary music genres. They had three number-one singles and five number-two singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and 15 number-one hits on the Adult Contemporary chart, in addition to 12 top-10 singles.
The duo toured continually during the 1970s, which put them under increased strain; Richard took a year off in 1979 after he had become addicted to Quaalude, while Karen suffered from anorexia nervosa. Their joint career ended in 1983 when Karen died from heart failure brought on by complications of anorexia. Extensive news coverage surrounding these circumstances increased public awareness of eating disorders. Their music continues to attract critical acclaim and commercial success. They have sold more than 90 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
"Rainy Days and Mondays" is a 1971 song by the Carpenters, with instrumental backing by L.A. session musicians from the Wrecking Crew, that went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It's Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King kept it from number 1. "Rainy Days and Mondays" was the duo's fourth number 1 song on the Adult Contemporary singles chart. However, the song failed to chart in the United Kingdom until it went to number 63 in a reissue there in 1993. "Rainy Days and Mondays" was certified Gold by the RIAA.
The song was composed in 1971 by the then fairly unknown composers Roger Nichols and Paul Williams. It was released as the first track on the álbum Carpenters, popularly known as the Tan Album, and the B-side on the single is "Saturday", written and sung by Richard Carpenter.

Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

What I've got they used to call the blues
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny, but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me (the one who loves me)

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out (talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do (only thing to do)
Run and find the one who loves me (ooh)

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out (to talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get
Me down.

Tu che mi bevi nel caffè
Tu in ogni uomo vedi me
Tu che mi porti via con te
Tu che mi pensi in ogni via
A casa, a scuola, in filovia

Tu che non puoi restare sola
Tu che telefoni ogni ora
E poi non dici una parola
Innamorata, innamorata, innamorata
Innamorata, innamorata, innamorata

Io che ero il primo in compagnia
E la più bella era la mia
Dicevo, "Donna, tu sei mia"
È stato un caso oppure un gioco
E sei arrivata a poco a poco

Tu col tuo sguardo un po' inocente
Tu che mi leggi nella mente
Senza di te non sono niente
Innamorato, innamorato, innamorato
Innamorato, innamorato, innamorato

Le corse pazze e poi un fiore
Poi abbracciarsi in ascensore
Aver la casa per due ore
E poi nascosti, anima mia
Poter sentire che sei mia

Sei bella quando non lo sai
Quando vergogna non ne hai
Grazie per quello che mi dai
Innamorati, innamorati, innamorati
Innamorati, innamorati, innamorati.

His career as a recording artist encompasses 17 albums with Chicago and eight solo albums.

As a solo artist, Cetera has scored six Top 40 singles, including two that reached number one on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1986, "Glory of Love" and "The Next Time I Fall." "Glory of Love", the theme song from the film The Karate Kid Part II(1986), was co-written by Cetera, David Foster, and Diane Nini, and was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for best original song from a motion picture.           You're the Inspiration: A Collection(1997) is the second album released by Peter Cetera for River North Records and the sixth album released as a solo artist. While labeled as a 'collection', the album is not really a compilation of 'Greatest Hits' but rather a collection of previously recorded duets, a few new songs and a few re-recordings of old Chicago hits.
You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love to last forever
And I want you here with me

From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
You're always on my mind

In my heart, in my soul, baby
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'

No one needs you more than I need you
And I know, yes, I know that it's plain to see
We're so in love when we're together

Now I know, that I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind
In my heart, in my soul, baby

You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'

No one needs you more than I
No one needs you more than I
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'

No one needs you more than I need you
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration

You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
When you love somebody
(Till the end of time)

When you love somebody
(Always on my mind)
No one needs you more than I
When you love somebody
(Till the end of time)
When you love somebody
(Always on my mind)
No one needs you more than I
When you love somebody
(Till the end of time)
When you love somebody
(Always on my mind)
No one needs you more than I
When you love somebody.
