Christopher Cross(born Christopher Charles Geppert; May 3, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and composer from San Antonio, Texas. Cross won five Grammy Awards for his eponymous debut album released in 1979. The singles "Sailing" (1980), and "Arthur's Theme(Best That You Can Do)" (from the 1981 film Arthur) peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. "Sailing" earned three Grammys in 1981, while "Arthur's Theme" won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981 (with co-composers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen).
Every Turn of the World is the third studio album by Christopher Cross, recorded and released in 1985. The album is notable for its harder rocking sound and often lacking the pop ballads that dominated the sound of previous albums. Though the album itself peaked at Nº 127 on the Billboard 200, the only single from the album to chart, "Charm the Snake", peaked only at Nº 68 on the Billboard Hot 100. The other two singles from the album, the title track and "Love Is Love (In Any Language)", failed to chart.
We think about the loves we lost
Will it come again?
We think of all the things we want
Will we ever win?
We listen to the voice of children
Will they find their way
Keep an open heart
The answer to it all's a wish away

Never let the tears you're cryin' blind you
To the dream that's waitin' to find you
'Cause there's one more chance
With every turn of the world
Is it gold or glory a taste of freedom
Or the strong warm touch of a body
There are all these things
With every turn of the world

Human kindness diamond of the heart
Tearing down the old walls
As long as we can share
Desire's not a sin, after all
When you find yourself alone
Missing tender magic touching you
Keep an open heart
Everything you dream can still be true

Never let the tears you're cryin' blind you
To the dream that's waitin' to find you
'Cause there's one more chance
With every turn of the world
Is it gold or glory a taste of freedom
Or the strong warm touch of a body
There are all these things
With every turn of the world

Never let the tears you're cryin' blind you
To the dream that's waitin' to find you
'Cause there's one more chance
With every turn of the world
We all want a world we can live in
We all want a world full of love
It's never too late, it's never too soon
Whatever you can do is enough

Never let the tears you're cryin' blind you
To the dream that's waitin' to find you
'Cause there's one more chance
With every turn of the world
Is it gold or glory a taste of freedom
Or the strong warm touch of a body
There are all these things
With every turn of the world

Never let the tears you're cryin' blind you
To the dream that's waitin' to find you
'Cause there's one more chance
With every turn of the world

Is it gold or glory a taste of freedom
Or the strong warm touch of a body
There are all these things
With every turn of the world.

If you're down and out and you feel real hurt
Come on over to the place where I live
And all your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you

Don't be afraid come on in
You might run across some of your old friends
All your loneliness I gotta soothe
I'll play the blues for you

I got no big name and I ain't no big star
I play the blues for you on my guitar
All your loneliness I'll try to soothe
I 'll play the blues for you.

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay
I'll be watching you

Oh, can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heartaches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you, I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please

Oh, can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heartaches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake
I'll be watching you...

Oh I was so in love - Then you broke my heart
I'll never understand - The rules of love
You said to me - True love never dies
- You said to me
Now I'm sleeping with a memory, yeah!

*There is a fire in my soul
Burning don't you know
Can you hear it on the radio
Fire in my soul
Out of my control
Said you love me then you let me go

**Oh, oh, can you hear it on the radio
Oh, oh, can you hear it on the radio

Oh, it's just like a dream - You're mine
When I saw you - The very first time
You looked at me - With those eyes
You said you loved me - I believed your lies
Why do you keep me hangin' on the line
The love you gave me - It's just a waste of time
There is a fire burning up my soul.

*Repeat
** Repeat

Oh I was so in love - Then you broke my heart
No, no this love will never die

I should have seen - Should have known
When you told me - You had to go
So naive - You know
You'd burn me up - Then you'd let me go
Why do you keep me hangin' on the line
The love you gave me - It's just a waste of time
There is a fire burning up my soul.
