"Dancing with Myself" is a song written by Singer Billy Idol and bassist Tony James, first recorded by their band Generation X in 1979. The song was re-recorded and commercially released by the band newly re-branded as Gen X as a 7" single and a 12" in July 1980, but was a sales failure, reaching only #62 in the UK Singles Chart. It was included on the new band's subsequent first álbum Kiss Me Deadly (1981).
In late 1981 Idol, now a solo artist after Gen X's break-up, remixed and re-released "Dancing with Myself" as a single in the United States, fading down the guitar part from its dominance in the first release, and bringing forward the bass and his vocal tracks, to produce a milder overall sound. The release became his first hit in America, having become popular on the dance club scene, reaching #27 in the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Two versions were issued—the 3:20 single version (which was later included on Idol's 11 of the Best compilation) and the 4:50 extended version that appeared on Idol's Don't Stop EP.
Idol plays "Dancing with Myself" at most of his concerts, always introducing the song as having been originally written with Tony James or originally recorded by Generation X.
On the floors of Tokyo
Or down in London town to go, go
With the record selection
And the mirror's reflection
I'm dancing with myself

When there's no one else in sight
In the crowded lonely night
Well, I wait so long
For my love vibration
And I'm dancing with myself

Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
Well, there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
When I'm dancing with myself

If I looked all over the world
And there's every type of girl
But your empty eyes
Seem to pass me by
Leave me dancing with myself

So let's sink another drink
'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
And I'll be dancing with myself

Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
Well there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
When I'm dancing with myself

If I looked all over the world
And there's every type of girl
But your empty eyes
Seem to pass me by
Leave me dancing with myself

So let's sink another drink
'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
And I'll be dancing with myself

Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
If I had the chance
I'd ask the world to dance
Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself
Dancing with myself

Dancing with myself.

Every dream that I dream
Seems to float on by
Like a cloud in the wind
Way up in the sky
Every move that I make
Seems to be the wrong way
Like a cold black night
After a summer day

What can I do
What can I do
Nothing's the same as it used to be
Nothing's the same as it used to be
What can I do

I used to play my guitar
With a smile on my face
Now everything's changed
My whole life's rearranged
From the day I was born
Sidle Jinx was my name
Though I tried and I tried
That name still remains

What can I do
What can I do
Nothing's the same as it used to be
Nothing's the same as it used to be
What can I do

What
Can I do
What
Can I do
What
Can I do
What
Can I do

I hear voices all singing
But no one's there
It's a ghost of my life
Bringing past tense to mind
Lock and key here ties me
From the freedom and sin
Oh come let me in
I'll start all over again

What can I do
What can I do
Nothing's the same as it used to be
No no no no no no no no no
What can I do

What
Can I do
What
Can I do
What.
DON’T YOU
SIMPLE MIND
SONGWRITERS: KEITH FORSEY & STEVE SCHIFF

ALBUM: DON’T YOU(FORGET ABOUT YOU)
LABEL: VIRGIN RECORDS
GENRE: POP ROCK
YEAR: 1985

"Don't You (Forget About Me)" is a 1985 pop song performed by Scottish rock band Simple Minds. The song is best known for being played during the opening and closing credits of the John Hughes film The Breakfast Club. It was written and composed by producer Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff, the latter of whom was a guitarist and songwriter from the Nina Hagen band.
Forsey asked Cy Curnin from The Fixx, Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol to record the song, but all three declined; Idol did later perform a cover of it on his 2001 compilation album Greatest Hits. Schiff then suggested Forsey ask Simple Minds who, after refusing as well, agreed under the encouragement of their label, A&M. According to frontman Jim Kerr, the band were reluctant to record the song as they felt they should only record their own material, relenting after persuasion from Kerr's wife at the time, Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, and a phone call from Forsey in which he expressed his admiration for the band. According to one account, the band "rearranged and recorded 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' in three hours in a north London studio and promptly forgot about it."
Continuing the rock direction recently taken on Sparkle in the Rain but also glancing back at their melodic synthpop past, it caught the band at their commercial peak and, propelled by the success of The Breakfast Club, became a #1 hit in the U.S. and around the world. It is also the band's only #1 hit on the U.S. Top Rock Tracks chart, staying atop for three weeks. While only reaching #7 in the UK, it stayed on the charts from 1985 to 1987, one of the longest time spans for any single in the history of the chart.
The song did not appear on the band's subsequent álbum Once Upon a Time, but it did appear on the 1992 best-of Glittering Prize 81/92. It soon became a fixture of the band's live sets - with an extended audience participation section during its inclusion on the 2015 tour to promote the band's Big Music album.
(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
Won't you come see about me
I'll be alone dancing, you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out
And love's strange: so real in the dark
Think of the tender things
That we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me

Will you stand above me
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling
Rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling
Rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

(Hey, hey, hey, hey)

Don't you try and pretend
It's my beginning
We'll win in the end
I won't harm you
Or touch your defenses
Vanity, insecurity

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone dancing, you know it, baby
Going to take you apart
I'll build us back together at heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name
As you walk on by
Will you call my name
When you walk away

Oh, will you walk away
Will you walk away
Oh, call my name
Will you call my name.

GÊNERO: ROCK
ANO: 1966

Vou cantá-la seja aonde for
Para nunca esquecer
O nosso amor
Nosso amor!

Veja bem, foi você
A razão e o porquê
De nascer esta canção assim
Pois você é o amor
Que existe em mim

Você partiu e me deixou
Nunca mais você voltou
Pra me tirar da solidão
E até você voltar
Meu bem, eu vou cantar
Essa nossa canção.
