Three singles were released from the album, each reaching the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (number 12), "Witchy Woman" (number 9), and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (number 22). The band, starting with this album, played a major role in popularizing the country rock sound.
The album was ranked number 368 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time published in 2012. The single "Take It Easy" is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll". This album was slated for Quadraphonic release and even given a Quadraphonic catalog number but it was never released in that format.
Glenn Lewis Frey (/fraɪ/; November 6, 1948 – January 18, 2016) was an American singer, songwriter, actor and founding member of the rock band the Eagles. Frey was the lead singer and frontman for the Eagles, roles he came to share with fellow member Don Henley, with whom he wrote most of the Eagles' material. Frey played guitar and keyboards as well as singing lead vocals on songs such as "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Tequila Sunrise", "Already Gone", "James Dean", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town", and "Heartache Tonight".
After the breakup of the Eagles in 1980, Frey embarked on a successful solo career. He released his debut album, No Fun Aloud, in 1982 and went on to record Top 40 hits "The One You Love", "Smuggler's Blues", "Sexy Girl", "The Heat Is On", "You Belong to the City", "True Love", "Soul Searchin'" and "Livin' Right". As a member of the Eagles, Frey won six Grammy Awards, and five American Music Awards. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, the first year they were nominated. Consolidating his solo recordings and those with the Eagles, Frey had 24 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
Well, I'm running down the road
Tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me
Two that wanna stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own
Wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look
At me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
We will never be here again
So open up, I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well I'm running down the road trying to loosen
My load,
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my
Cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own
Wheels make you crazy
Come on, baby
Don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy.

WHEN: LIVE 1982

ALBUM: AFTER SCHOOL SEASSION
LABEL: CHESS

"School Days" (also known as "School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes the Bell)") is a rock-and-roll song written and recorded by Chuck Berry and released by Chess Records as a single in March 1957 and on the LP After School Session two months later (see 1957 in music). It is one of his best-known songs and is often considered a rock-and-roll anthem.
The last verse of the song contains the lyrics "Hail, hail rock and roll / Deliver me from the days of old."Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll became the title of a 1987 concert film and documentary about Berry; the song itself is also commonly mistitled as Hail Hail Rock and Roll. Much of the song's musical arrangement was reused by Berry in 1964 in "No Particular Place to Go". The same arrangement was also used for "Big Ben Blues".
Berry recorded the song on January 21, 1957, at Universal Recording Studios in Chicago, Illinois. The session(s) were produced by the Chess brothers, Leonard and Phil. Backing Berry were guitarist Hubert Sumlin(known for his work with Howlin' Wolf), bassist Willie Dixon, and drummer Fred Below.
Up in the morning and out to school
The teacher is teaching the golden role
American history and pracitcal math
You study them hard, hoping to pass
Working your fingers right down to the bone
The guy behind you won't leave you alone

Ring, ring, goes the bell
The cook in the lunchroom is ready to sell
You're lucky if you can find a seat
You're fortunate if you have time to eat
Back in the classroom open your books
Keep it the teacher don't know how mean she looks

Soon as 3 o'clock rolls around
You finally lay your burdon down
Close up your books get out of your seat
Down the halls and in to the street
Up to the corner and round the bend
Right to the juke joint you go in

Drop the coin right in to the slot
You gotta hear something that's really hot
With the one you love you're making romance
All day long you been wanting to dance
Feeling the music from head to toe
Round and round, and round you go

Drop the coin right in
Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' roll
Deliver me from the days of old
Long live rock 'n' roll
The feeling of drums loud and bold
Rock! Rock! Rock 'n' roll
The feeling is there body and soul.

Shalamar(/ˈʃæləmɑːr/) is an American R&B and soul music vocal group, active in the mid-1970s and throughout the 1980s, that was originally a disco-driven vehicle created by Soul Train booking agent Dick Griffey and show creator and producer Don Cornelius. Their collective name, "Shalamar", was picked by Griffey.
You came into my life
When I was lost and all alone
With no one to call my own
You made me feel alive again

I've been in love before
And you're more than just a friend
I never thought I would love again
But my heart is burnin' for you

Your love (oooh…) is full of fire
Burnin', only you I desire
Your love is full of fire
Can't stop this raging fire, yeeh

Filled with so much love
And lots of understanding
Oh, this passion is everlasting
Without you there could be no me

Ooh, the warm of your embrace
It really set my soul aflame
Girl, we're passed the point of playin' games
It's just a spark that will burn forever

Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (got me burnin')
Burnin', only you I desire
Your love is full of fire
Can't stop this raging fire

Got me wanting, got me wanting (got me wanting you, baby)
Got me wanting, got me wanting you (forever)
Got me wanting, got me wanting (got me wanting you, baby)
Got me wanting, got me, got me

Got me, full of fire
Got me, full of fire
Got me, full of fire
Got me, full of fire

Baby, your love (oooh…) is full of fire (my love is burnin', burnin')
Burnin' only you I desire
Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (you know I can't stop)
Can't stop this raging fire

Your love is what it takes
To make me forget past mistakes
If I had known that you'd be comin' my way
You would have spared me so much heart

Girl, I'm glad you realize
That from now until the end of time
I'm gonna claim you to be mine
We got a love that last forever, you and I together, baby

Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (my love is burnin', burnin')
Burnin' only you I desire
Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (can't stop)
Can't stop this raging fire

Got me wanting, got me wanting (got me wanting you, baby)
Got me wanting, got me wanting you (forever)
Got me wanting, got me wanting (got me wanting you, baby)
Got me wanting, got me

Got me burnin' with desire, full of fire
Boy, you're full of fire, fire
Got me, temperature is higher, full of fire
Can't stop this raging fire

Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (got me burnin', burnin')
Burnin', only you I desire
Your love (oooh…) is full of fire (you know I can't stop)

No need in denyin'
Ain't no way of hidin'
Your love, your love
Burnin' with desire
Love is full of fire
Our love, our love

Your love is full of fire
Burnin'
Your love is full of fire
Can't stop

Got me full of fire
Got me full of fire

Your love is full of fire
Burnin'
Your love is full of fire
Can't stop.
ROUTE 66
JOHN MAYER
SONGWRITER: BOBBY TROUP
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: CARS: SOUNDTRACK
LABEL: A & M
GENRE: RHYTHM AND BLUES
YEAR: 2006

"(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" is a popular rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. The song uses a twelve-bar blues arrangement and the lyrics follow the path of U.S. Route 66(US 66), which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.
Nat King Cole, as the King Cole Trio, first recorded the song the same year and it became a hit, appearing on Billboard magazine's R&B and pop charts.
Another version to reach the Billboard charts was that recorded by Bing Crosby with the Andrews Sisters on May 11, 1946 and this reached the No. 14 position in 1946. The song was subsequently recorded by many artists including Chuck Berry, Glenn Frey, the Rolling Stones, Them, Dr. Feelgood, Asleep at the Wheel, the Manhattan Transfer, Depeche Mode, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Pappo, The Cramps, John Mayer, George Benson and Peter Tork & Shoe Suede Blues.
John Clayton Mayer (/ˈmeɪ.ər/; born October 16, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but disenrolled and moved to Atlanta in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters. After their split, Mayer continued to play local clubs, refining his skills and gaining a following. After his appearance at the 2001 South by Southwest Festival, he was signed to Aware Records, and then Columbia Records, which released his first EP, Inside Wants Out. His following two full-length albums—Room for Squares(2001) and Heavier Things(2003)—did well commercially, achieving multi-platinum status. In 2003, he won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the single "Your Body Is a Wonderland".
By 2005, Mayer had moved away from the acoustic music that characterized his early records, and begun performing the blues and rock music that had originally influenced him as a musician. He collaborated with blues artists such as B. B. King, Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton. Forming the John Mayer Trio, he released a live album in 2005 called Try!, and his third studio album Continuum in 2006. Both albums received critical acclaim, and Continuum earned Mayer a 2007 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. He also won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change". That album was followed by Battle Studies in 2009, a return to pop, with a Battle Studies World Tour.
After having several controversial incidents with the media, Mayer withdrew from public life in 2010 and began work on his fifth studio album, Born and Raised, which drew inspiration from the 1970s pop music of Laurel Canyon. However, the discovery of a granuloma on his vocal cords delayed the release of the album until May 2012, and forced him to cancel the planned tour. The album received a generally favorable reception, though was less commercially successful than his previous work. Mayer began performing as a singer again in January 2013, and that year released his sixth studio album, Paradise Valley, which incorporates country music influences. By 2014, he had sold a total of over 20 million albums worldwide. After developing an interest in the Grateful Dead and connecting with Bob Weir, Mayer formed Dead & Company with three former Grateful Dead musicians. The band's performances have been well-received, with tours in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Mayer's secondary career pursuits extend to television hosting, comedy, and writing; he has authored columns for magazines such as Esquire. He supports various causes and has performed at charity benefits. He is a watch aficionado (with a collection he values in the "tens of millions" of dollars), contributing to the watch site Hodinkee, and has been on the jury at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
