              Eric Howard Carmen (born August 11, 1949) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist. He scored numerous hit songs across the 1970s and 1980s, first as a member of the Raspberries (who had a million-selling single with "Go All the Way"), and then with his solo career, including hits such as "All by Myself", "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again", "She Did It", "Hungry Eyes", and "Make Me Lose Control".

              In 1987, Carmen's contribution to the hit movie Dirty Dancing, "Hungry Eyes", hit number 2 on the Adult Contemporary Chart and also returned him to the Pop Top 10. "Reason To Try", a further contribution to the One Moment in Time compilation album of songs recorded for the Seoul Summer Olympics, kept Carmen's profile high in 1988, during which the nostalgic "Make Me Lose Control" also returned him to the number one position on the Adult Contemporary chart – where it stayed for three straight weeks – as well as number 3 on Billboard's Hot 100. This became his highest charting song since "All By Myself". Both, along with "Hungry Eyes", having in the past two decades become classic pop radio favorites. Carmen had another hit single in 1988 with "Make Me Lose Control".

          The year 2000 saw the stateside release of I Was Born to Love You, which had been released in 1998 only in Japan as Winter Dreams. Carmen eschewed the use of a band on the recording, playing most of the instruments and programming the drum parts himself. The album did not find a large audience, but Carmen has continued to enjoy success placing songs with other artists over the years. In 2000 he also toured for the first time in years with Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band performing "Hungry Eyes", "Go All The Way" and "All By Myself".

             On December 24, 2013, the first new recording in over 15 years by Carmen titled "Brand New Year" was released. The track, written and recorded in November/December 2013 in Ohio and Los Angeles, was issued via a gratis download by Legacy Recordings as a special "Christmas gift", to herald the March 2014 arrival of a 30 track career retrospective entitled The Essential Eric Carmen.

              On June 25, 2019, The New York Times Magazine listed Eric Carmen among hundreds of artists whose material was reportedly destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.

          "All by Myself" is a song by American artist Eric Carmen released in 1975. The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18, famously used to underscore the 1945 British film Brief Encounter. The chorus was taken from the song "Let's Pretend", which Carmen wrote and recorded with the Raspberries in 1972. The slide guitar solo was performed by studio guitarist Hugh McCracken.

            Billy Joe Royal (April 3, 1942 – October 6, 2015) was an American pop and country singer. His most successful record was "Down in the Boondocks" in 1965.

               Born in Valdosta, Georgia to Clarence Royal and Mary Sue Smith, and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Royal performed at the Georgia Jubilee in Atlanta during his teens. He formed his own rock and roll band, and became a local star at the Bamboo Ranch in Savannah in the late 1950s and early 1960s, where his singing style was influenced by African-American performers, including Sam Cooke.

        Royal was a friend of performer and songwriter Joe South, and recorded what was intended as a demo of South's song "Down in the Boondocks". The recording was heard at Columbia Records, who offered Royal a singing contract in 1965 and released his version of the song, produced by South. "Down in the Boondocks" remained his best-known song, reaching number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 38 in the UK.

            He followed up his initial success with the singles "I Knew You When" (Top 20, 1965) and "Hush" (1967), also written and produced by Joe South. Another South composition, "Yo-Yo," just missed the top 40 in Canada and charted poorly in the U.S. when Royal released it in 1967, but a later remake by The Osmonds was a much greater success. His 1969 single, "Cherry Hill Park", peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the 1970s his recording of "Heart's Desire" gained popularity among Northern soul enthusiasts and was regularly played in Northern soul nightclubs.

           By the late 1970s, Royal had become a regular performer in Las Vegas, and also appeared as an actor in movies and on television. His last hit on the US pop charts was in 1978, when his version of "Under the Boardwalk" became a minor hit. However, he reinvented himself in the 1980s as a mainstream country star, and had his first hit on the country music chart in 1984 with "Burned Like a Rocket", released on the Atlantic label. His other country hits included "I'll Pin a Note on Your Pillow" (1987), "Tell It Like It Is", and "Till I Can't Take It Anymore" (both 1989). His successes on the country charts continued until the early 1990s.

               Royal experienced a second comeback during the 2000s due to regular airplay on "oldies" radio stations. His music was further exposed to younger generations through a movement known as The Beat Army, an online music forum based on Facebook which is operated by author and music producer Paul Collins. Royal continued to tour regularly, performing concerts at casinos, music festivals, and clubs in North America, Japan, and throughout Europe. His set lists included a mixture of songs representing multiple genres from the 1960s onwards. He also played Robert Ally in the indie Western film Billy the Kid (2013), co-starring country singer Cody McCarver.

            Royal died in his sleep on October 6, 2015 in Morehead City, North Carolina.

           "Love Has No Right" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Billy Joe Royal. It was released in May 1989 as the second single from the album Tell It Like It Is. The song reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It was written by Royal, Nelson Larkin and Randy Scruggs.

           Astrud Gilberto, nascida Astrud Evangelina Weinert (Salvado, 29 de março de 1940), é uma cantora brasileira de Bossa Nova e jAZZ de fama internacional.

       Nascida em Salvador, Bahia, filha de mãe brasileira e pai alemão, mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro com sua família, em 1947, para morar na Avenida Atlântica, em Copacabana. Seu pai era professor de idiomas e de literatura. Sua mãe tinha grande paixão pela música, cantava e tocava bandolim. Caçula de três irmãs, era extremamente tímida e passou anos a reprimir seu interesse pelo canto. Na adolescência, sua melhor amiga Nara Leão, então a aspirante a cantora, foi incentivando a amiga a soltar a voz. Foi também Nara quem apresentou Astrud e João Gilberto, que passou a ser o grande incentivador da namorada. João e Astrud se casaram em 1959. Em menos de um ano, ela esperava o primogênito, Marcelo.

         Em maio de 1960, Astrud sobe ao palco pela primeira vez, no histórico show Noite do Amor, do Sorriso e da Flor, no anfiteatro da Faculdade de Arquitetura da UFRJ, organizado para comemorar o lançamento do segundo LP de João Gilberto, O Amor, o Sorriso, a Flor (Odeon, 1960), e do qual participaram também Nara Leão, Dori Caymmi, Chico Feitosa, Johnny Alf, o Trio Irakitan, Elza Soares, Sérgio Ricardo, Sylvia Telles, Pedrinho Mattar, Norma Bengell, Nana Caymmi, o grupo vocal Os Cariocas, Hélcio Milito, Bebeto Castilho, Roberto Menescal e outros. O espetáculo foi produzido e apresentado por Ronaldo Bôscoli.

               Em 1963, Astrud e João se transferem para os Estados Unidos. No mesmo ano, Astrud participa do álbum Getz/Gilberto juntamente com seu marido e o saxofonista Stan Getz, com arranjos de Tom Jobim. Astrud, que nunca havia cantado profissionalmente, participa das gravações, mas, durante as apresentações subsequentes, descobriu que sofria de medo de palco.

      Em 1964, meses após as gravações de Getz/Gilberto, João se separa de Astrud. Em 1965, Astrud lança o seu primeiro álbum solo. Seguiram-se muitos outros. De 1965 a 2002 , cantando bossa-nova, MPB, standards do jazz e canções americanas e europeias, em inglês, espanhol, francês, italiano e alemão, gravou 18 álbuns solo.

        Ela continua a viver nos Estados Unidos. Atualmente, mora na Filadélfia, na companhia dos filhos, o baixista Marcelo Gilberto (nascido em 1960, de seu casamento com João Gilberto) e Greg Lasorsa, de seu segundo casamento.

                O sucesso do trabalho de Astrud Gilberto na canção The Girl from Ipanema tornou-a um nome proeminente na música do jazz, e ela começou a fazer gravações solo.

         Embora Astrud tenha começado como intérprete de bossa nova brasileira e jazz americano, passou também a gravar composições próprias na década de 1970. A canção "Astrud" , interpretada pela cantora polaca Basia é um tributo a ela.

               Astrud Gilberto recebeu o prêmio Latin Jazz USA Award for Lifetime Achievement (1992) e foi incluída no International Latin Music Hall of Fame, em 2002.

A cantora também tornou-se conhecida pelo seu trabalho como artista plástica, assim como por seu ativismo em favor dos direitos dos animais.

          Kiss (often stylized as KIϟϟ) is an American rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley. Well known for its members' face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-to-late 1970s with its elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics. The band has gone through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons being the only members to feature in every lineup. The original and best-known lineup consists of Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Simmons (vocals and bass), Frehley (lead guitar and vocals), and Criss (drums and vocals)

        With their make-up and costumes, the band members took on the personae of comic book-style characters: the Starchild (Stanley), the Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss). Due to creative differences, both Criss and Frehley had departed the group by 1982.

            In 1983, Kiss began performing without makeup and costumes, thus marking the beginning of the band's "unmasked" era that would last for over a decade. The band experienced a commercial resurgence during this era, with the Platinum-certified album Lick It Up successfully introducing them to a new generation of fans, and its music videos received regular airplay on MTV. Eric Carr, who had replaced Criss in 1980, died in 1991 of heart cancer and was replaced by Eric Singer. In response to a wave of Kiss nostalgia in the mid-1990s, the original lineup re-united in 1996, which also saw the return of its makeup and stage costumes. The resulting Alive/Worldwide Tour was highly successful, grossing $143.7 million, making it the band's most successful tour to date. Criss and Frehley subsequently left the band again, and have been replaced by Singer and Tommy Thayer. The band has continued with its original stage makeup, with Singer and Thayer using the original Catman and Spaceman makeup, respectively. In September 2018, Kiss announced that, after 45 years of recording and performing, it would be embarking on its ongoing final tour, the End of the Road World Tour, in 2019.

           Kiss is one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide, including 21million RIAA-certified albums. Kiss also holds the title as America's No. 1 Gold record award-winning group of all time, having earned 30 Gold albums. Kiss has 14 Platinum albums, with three albums being multi-Platinum. On April 10, 2014, the four original members of Kiss were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Kiss was ranked by MTV as the ninth "Greatest Metal Band of All Time", and placed tenth on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, as well as being ranked as the third "Best Metal and Hard Rock Live Band of All Time" by Loudwire

              "Hard Luck Woman" is a song by American hard rock band Kiss and the lead single from their 1976 album, Rock and Roll Over. It was originally written by Paul Stanley as a possible track for Rod Stewart, but after the success of the ballad "Beth", Kiss decided to keep it for themselves as a follow-up. Stanley has stated his admiration and love of Stewart's music numerous times, and that "Hard Luck Woman" was inspired by Rod Stewart, in particular the songs "Maggie May" and "You Wear It Well". While Stewart’s music served as a partial inspiration for the song, the nautical themed song "Brandy" by American pop-rock band Looking Glass served as Stanley’s main inspiration.
