YES SIR, I CAN BOOGIE

COUNTRY: SPAIN
ALBUM: BACCARA
LABEL: RCA RECORDS
GENRE: DISCO
YEAR: 1977

Baccara was a female vocal duo formed in 1977 by Spanish artists Mayte Mateos (born 7 February 1951) and María Mendiola (4 April 1952 – 11 September 2021). The duo rapidly achieved international success with their debut single "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie", which reached number one across much of Europe and became the best-selling single of all time by a female group, eventually selling more than 18 million copies worldwide. A successful follow-up single ("Sorry, I'm a Lady") and European tour led to a number of album releases, numerous television appearances and the duo's selection to represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978.
Despite a substantial following in Spain, Germany and Japan, by 1981 their blend of disco, pop and Spanish folk music was no longer fashionable, and by 1983 Mateos and Mendiola were both working on solo projects. Achieving little success as solo artists, the two formed duos of their own: separate incarnations of the original Baccara appeared during the middle of the decade, with Mendiola fronting New Baccara and Mateos keeping the duo's original name. During the 1990s, New Baccara reverted to Baccara and as a consequence both Mateos and Mendiola headed different duos with the same name. Both principals subsequently had prolonged but separate legacy careers based on nostalgia and their earlier fame.
Mendiola's Baccara has seen more international recognition, releasing a string of Hi-NRG club hits such as "Fantasy Boy" and "Touch Me" in the late 1980s and the later UK club hit "Wind Beneath My Wings". Mateos' Baccara has released few new recordings, but has remained in demand for television and live appearances in countries such as Spain and Germany, where the original Baccara developed a loyal fan base, performing the duo's back-catalogue and modernised versions of traditional Spanish songs.
Baccara is the debut studio album by Spanish duo Baccara, first released on RCA Victor in Germany in 1977. It contains the European hit singles "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" and "Sorry, I'm a Lady".
The rights to the RCA-Victor back catalogue are currently held by Sony BMG Music Entertainment - the original Baccara album in its entirety remains unreleased on compact disc.
There is an alternative cover for the album from Scandinavia featuring the girls standing with a black background. Some editions of this album feature a limited edition poster. The album was re-released in Germany in 1982 and featured an entirely different picture sleeve.
Mister
Your eyes are full of hesitation
Sure makes me wonder
If you know what your looking for

Umm, baby I wan't to keep my reputation
I'm a sensation
You try me once you'll beg for more

Oooohh! Yes sir, I can boogie
But I need a certain song
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay, you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

No sir
I don't feel very much like talking
No neither walking
You wanna know if I can dance

Yes sir, already told you in the first verse and in the chorus
But I will give you one more chance

Ooohh! Yes sir, I can boogie
But I need a certain song
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long
Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay, you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay, you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Yes sir, I can boogie
But I need a certain song
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long
Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Yes sir, I can boogie
If you stay you can't go wrong
I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long.

SUSPICIOUS MIND

MARK JAMES
SONGWRITER: MARK JAMES
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: SUSPICIOUS
LABEL: SGEPTER RECORDS
GENRE: ROCK
YEAR: 1968

Mark James(born Francis Rodney Zambon; November 29, 1940) is an American songwriter who wrote hits for singers B.J. Thomas, Brenda Lee, and Elvis Presley, including Presley's US number one hit single, "Suspicious Minds."
"Suspicious Minds" is a 1968 song written and first recorded by the American songwriter Mark James. After this recording failed commercially, it was recorded by Elvis Presley with the producer Chips Moman. Presley's version reached Nº1 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The song is about a mistrusting and dysfunctional relationship, and the need of the characters to overcome their issues in order to maintain it. Written in 1968 by Mark James, who was also the co-writer of "Always on My Mind" (which Presley would later record), the song was first recorded and released by James on Scepter Records in 1968. Chips Moman had asked James to come to Memphis to write songs for American Sound Studio. At the time, James was residing in Houston. He had written three songs that became Nº1 hits in the Southern United States. American Sound Studio was gaining a reputation in the industry, as the Box Tops had just recorded "The Letter" there, so James relocated to Memphis.
James said that late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." At the recording session, James sang the lead vocals and the studio band backed him; Moman produced. The horns, strings, and vocals of the Holladay Sisters were later overdubbed. After the tape was mixed, James and Moman flew to New York, where James's manager had contacts with Scepter Records. The label loved the song and put it out, but Scepter did not have the money to promote new artists and the song did not make the charts.
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So if an old friend I know
Stops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see the tears are real, I'm crying
(Yes I'm crying)

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
When honey, you know I've never lied to you
Mmm, yeah, yeah

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby

Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby

Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?

CRYING

ROY OSBORN
SONGWRITERS: JOE MELSON & ROY ORBISON
COUNTRY: U. S. A.
ALBUM: ROY ORBISON’S GREATEST HITS
LABEL: MONUMENT RECORDS
GENRE: ROCK
YEAR: 1962

Roy Kelton Orbison(April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician known for his impassioned singing style, complex song structures, and dark, emotional ballads. His music was described by critics as operatic, earning him the nicknames "The Caruso of Rock" and "The Big O." Many of Orbison's songs conveyed vulnerability at a time when most male rock-and-roll performers chose to project machismo. He performed while standing motionless and wearing black clothes to match his dyed black hair and dark sunglasses.
Born in Texas, Orbison began singing in a rockabilly and country-and-western band as a teenager. He was signed by Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1956, but enjoyed his greatest success with Monument Records. From 1960 to 1966, 22 of Orbison's singles reached the Billboard Top 40. He wrote or co-wrote almost all of his own Top 10 hits, including "Only the Lonely" (1960), "Running Scared" (1961), "Crying" (1961), "In Dreams" (1963), and "Oh, Pretty Woman" (1964).
After the mid-1960s, Orbison suffered a number of personal tragedies and his career faltered. He experienced a resurgence in popularity in the 1980s following the success of several cover versions of his songs. In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys(a rock supergroup) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. Orbison died of a heart attack in December 1988 at age 52. One month later, his song "You Got It" (1989) was released as a solo single, becoming his first hit to reach the US and UK Top 10 in nearly 25 years.
Orbison's honors include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989, and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2014. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and five other Grammy Awards. Rolling Stone placed him at number 37 on its list of the "Greatest Artists of All Time" and number 13 on its list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time". In 2002, Billboard magazine listed him at number 74 on its list of the Top 600 recording artists.
Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits is a Roy Orbison record album from Monument Records recorded at the RCA Studio B in Nashville and released in 1962. Between the hit songs were also "Love Star" and "Evergreen" which were released here for the first time. "Dream Baby" had recently been a Nº 4 hit in the United States and Nº 2 in England.
According to the authorised Roy Orbison biography, this was Orbison's third album on the Monument label, and his first greatest hits compilation. It was a success remaining in the charts for 140 weeks. It was re-released in 1967 after his departure from Monument Records.
I was alright for a while
I could smile for a while
But I saw you last night, you held my hand so tight
As you stopped to say, "Hello"
Oh, you wished me well, you couldn't tell

That I'd been crying over you
Crying over you
Then you said, "So long"
Left me standing all alone
Alone and crying
Crying
Crying
Crying
It's hard to understand
But the touch of your hand
Can start me crying

I thought that I was over you
But it's true, so true
I love you even more than I did before
But darling, what can I do?
For you don't love me
And I'll always be

Crying over you
Crying over you
Yes, now you're gone
And from this moment on
I'll be crying
Crying
Crying
Crying
Yeah, crying
Crying
Over you.

Eu me afasto e me defendo de você
Pra separar as nossas vidas

Vou negando as aparências
Disfarçando as evidências
Mas pra que viver fingindo
Se eu não posso enganar meu coração
Eu sei que te amo

Chega de mentiras
De negar o meu desejo
Eu te quero mais que tudo
Eu preciso do seu beijo
Eu entrego minha vida

Pra separar as nossas vidas

Vou negando as aparências
Disfarçando as evidências
Mas pra que viver fingindo
Se eu não posso enganar meu coração
Eu sei que te amo

Chega de mentiras
De negar o meu desejo
Eu te quero mais que tudo
Eu preciso do seu beijo
Eu entrego a minha vida
