Harry Edward Nilsson III (June
15, 1941 – January 15, 1994), usually credited as Nilsson, was an American
singer-songwriter who achieved the peak of his commercial success in the early
1970s. His work is characterized by pioneering overdub experiments, returns to
the Great American Songbook, and fusions of Caribbean sounds. A tenor with a
three-and-a-half octave range, Nilsson was one of the few major pop-rock
recording artists of his era to achieve significant commercial success without
ever performing major public concerts or undertaking regular tours.
Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another one, she paid it for the lime
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank 'em both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank 'em both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank 'em both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she called the doctor, woke him up
And said "Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take,
I say, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I say, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take,
I say, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
Now let me get this straight
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you called your doctor, woke him up
And said, "Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take,
I say, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I say, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take,
I say, Doctor, dooooctor, to relieve this bellyache?"
Put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both down
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning
Wouh wouh wouh wouh wouh....

Put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both down
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the moo-o-oorning
Yes, you call me in the morning
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning I'll tell you what to do
You're such a silly woman
Ain't there nothin' you can take.
