"(Up A) Lazy River" is a popular tune and song
by Hoagy Carmichael and Sidney Arodin, published in 1930. The melody is by
Arodin, arranged and with words modified by Carmichael. It is considered a jazz
standard and pop standard, and has been recorded by many artists as listed
below. A bit of the song is played by Carmichael in the 1946 Oscar-winning film
The Best Years of Our Lives. It can also be heard in the 1959 film Hey Boy! Hey
Girl!.
Howard Hoagland "Hoagy" Carmichael (November
22, 1899 – December 27, 1981) was an American composer, pianist, singer, actor,
and bandleader. He is best known for composing the music for
"Stardust", "Georgia on My Mind", "The Nearness of
You", and "Heart and Soul", four of the most-recorded American
songs of all time.

Dean Martin & The Mills Brothers - Up a lazy river.
Dean
Martin sings together with The Mills Brothers(his idols since he was a child)
"Up A Lazy River" on The Dean Martin Show(December 28, 1967).
Dean
Martin(born Dino Paul Crocetti; June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995) was an
American actor, singer and comedian. One of the most popular and enduring
American entertainers of the mid-20th century, Martin was nicknamed "The
King of Cool" for his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assurance.
Martin
gained his career breakthrough together with fellow comedian Jerry Lewis, billed
as Martin & Lewis, in 1946. They performed in nightclubs and later had numerous
appearances on radio, television and in films. Following an acrimonious ending
of the partnership in 1956, Martin pursued a solo career as a performer and
actor.
Martin established
himself as a notable singer, recording numerous contemporary songs as well as
standards from the Great American Songbook. He became one of the most popular
acts in Las Vegas and was known for his friendship with fellow artists Frank
Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., who together formed the Rat Pack.
Starting
in 1964, Martin was the host of the television variety program The Dean Martin
Show, which centred on Martin's singing talents and was characterized by his
relaxed, easy-going demeanour. From 1974 to 1984 he was roastmaster on the
popular Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, which drew notable celebrities, comedians
and politicians.
Throughout his career, Martin performed in concert
stages, nightclubs, audio recordings and appeared in 85 film and television
productions. His relaxed, warbling, crooning voice earned him
dozens of hit singles, including his signature songs "Memories Are Made of
This", "That's Amore", "Everybody Loves Somebody",
"You're Nobody till Somebody Loves You", "Sway",
"Ain't That a Kick in the Head?" and "Volare".
The Mills
Brothers, sometimes billed the Four Mills Brothers, and originally known
as the Four Kings of Harmony, were an American jazz and pop vocal quartet
who made more than 2,000 recordings that sold more than 50 million copies and
garnered at least three dozen gold records.
The Mills
Brothers were the first African-American artists to have their own show on
national network radio, on CBS in 1930, and the first to have a #1 hit on the
Billboard singles chart, with Paper Doll in 1943. They were inducted into
the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998.
Up a
lazy river by the old mill run
The lazy, lazy river in the noon day sun
Linger in the shade of a kind old tree
Throw away your troubles
Dream a dream with me-ee
Up a lazy river where the robin's so-ong
Awakes the bright new morning
Where we can move along
Blue skies up above, everyone's in love
Up a lazy river, how happy you could be
Up a lazy river-er with me
Up a lazy river by the old mill run
The lazy, lazy river in the noon day sun
Linger in the shade of a kind old tree
Throw away your troubles
Dream a dream with me
Up a lazy river where the robin's song
Awakes the bright new mornin'
Where we can move along
Blue skies up above, everyone's in love
Up a lazy river, how happy you could be
Up a lazy river-er with me
Woh, up a lazy river by the o-old mill run
The lazy, lazy river in the noo-oon day sun
Linger in the shade of a kind old tree
Throw away your-our troubles
Dream a dream with me
Up a lazy river where the robi-in's song
Awakes the bright new morning
Where we can move along
Blue skies up above, everyone's in love
Up a lazy river, how happy you could be
Up a lazy river-er with me-ee-ee-ee
Up - a lazy ri-iver - with me...
