Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band
from Los Angeles, California. It
currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine,
keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael,
lead guitarist James
Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn,
keyboardist PJ Morton and
multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar.
Original members Levine, Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, and
drummer Ryan Dusick first came together as Kara's Flowers in 1994,
while they were still in high school.
After self-releasing their independent album We
Like Digging?, the band signed to Reprise Records and released the album The Fourth World in 1997. The album garnered a tepid response, after which the record label
dropped the band and the members focused on college. In 2001,
the band re-emerged as Maroon 5, pursuing a different direction and adding
guitarist Valentine. The band signed with Octone Records,
an independent record label with a separate joint venture relationship with J
Records and released their debut album Songs About Jane in June 2002. Aided by the singles "Harder to Breathe",
"This Love"
and "She Will Be Loved",
the album peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 chart and went quadruple platinum in 2005. In the same year, the
band won the Grammy Award for Best New
Artist. In 2006, Dusick left the band after
suffering from serious wrist and shoulder injuries and was replaced by Matt
Flynn.
"She Will Be Loved" is a song by
the American pop rock band Maroon 5. It was
written by frontman Adam Levine and lead
guitarist James
Valentine. The song was released on June 21, 2004, as
the third single from Maroon 5's 2002 debut studio album, Songs About Jane. The
single peaked at Nº 5 in the United States and by December 2012 had sold more
than 2,722,000 digital downloads. It peaked at Nº 4 in the United Kingdom. In
Australia, it reached Nº 1, a position it held for five non-consecutive weeks.
The single is noted for its music video starring Kelly Preston in a mother-daughter love triangle with lead singer Adam Levine.
The song proved as successful as the band's
previous hits, "This Love"
and "Harder to Breathe",
hitting Nº 1 on the Mainstream
Top 40 and Adult Top 40 charts,
but it prompted many alternative radio outlets to remove Maroon 5 from their
playlists, on the ground that the band's newer songs were too light for
alt-rock audiences. These stations continued to play "Harder to Breathe" and
"This Love", but Maroon 5's newer hits were played only on pop and
adult contemporary stations. As of June 2014, the song has sold more than 3
million copies in the United States. The song was uploaded on
YouTube by Maroon 5 on 17 June 2009.
Beauty queen of only
eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else
I drove for miles and
miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times, but somehow
I want more
I don't mind spending
every day
Out on your corner, in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
Tap on my window,
knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore
It's not always
rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full and my door's always open
You come anytime you want
I don't mind spending
every day
Out on your corner, in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
I know where you
hide, alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls
Tap on my window,
knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I don't mind spending
every day
Out on your corner, in the pouring rain, oh
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved (please, don't try so hard)
And she will be loved (to say goodbye)
(Please, don't try so
hard to say goodbye)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh
(Please, don't try so hard to say goodbye)
Pouring rain
Please, don’t try so
hard to say goodbye.
