Nathaniel Adams Coles (March 17, 1919 –
February 15, 1965), known professionally as Nat King Cole, was an American
singer and jazz pianist. He
recorded over 100 songs that became hits on the pop charts. His trio was the
model for small jazz ensembles that followed. Cole also
acted in films and on television and performed on Broadway.
He was the first African-American man to host an American television series. He was the father of
singer-songwriter Natalie Cole (1950–2015).
Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short
When you reach September
When the autumn weather
Turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time
For the waiting game
Oh, the days dwindle down
To a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days
I'll spend with you
These precious days
I'll spend with you.
