Stand By Me é o título de uma canção gravada
originalmente por Ben E. King, composta por Ben E.
King, Jerry Leiber e Mike
Stoller. No ano de lançamento, o single ficou entre as mais tocadas nas
paradas estadunidenses, voltando a ser destaque em 1975 quando o ex-beatle
John
Lennon regrava a canção. A cantora Lady Gaga canta
a música em sua turnê The Monster Ball Tour. A canção foi trilha
sonora do filme homônimo.
According to the documentary History of Rock 'n' Roll, Ben E. King had no intention of recording the
song himself. King had written it for The Drifters, who passed on recording it. After the "Spanish Harlem" recording session, he had some studio time left over.
The session's producers, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, asked if he had any
more songs. King played "Stand by Me" on the piano for them. They
liked it and called the studio musicians back in to record it.
When
the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No, I won't be afraid
Oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand
Stand by me, so
Darling, darling stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Of the mountain
Should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No, I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand
Stand by me
And darling, darling stand by me oh, stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Darling, darling stand by me oh, stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble
Won't you stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, oh stand?
