Wynonna Ellen Judd(/waɪˈnoʊnə/; born Christina
Claire Ciminella; May 30, 1964) is a multi award-winning American country music singer. She is one of the most widely recognized and awarded female country
singers. In all, she has had 19 Nº 1 singles including those of
the Judds making her one of the best-selling country artists of all time. Her solo albums and singles are
all credited to the single name Wynonna. She first
rose to fame in the 1980s alongside her mother Naomi in the country music duo the Judds.
They released seven albums on Curb Records in addition to 26 singles, of which fourteen were Nº 1 hits.
The
Judds disbanded in 1991 and Wynonna began a solo career, also on Curb. In her
solo career, she has released eight studio albums, a live album, a holiday
album, and two compilation albums, in addition to more than 20 singles. Her
first three singles were "She Is His Only Need", "I Saw the Light," and
"No One Else on Earth". All three
reached number one on the U.S. country singles charts consecutively, and
"To Be Loved by You" also hit number one in 1996, her fourth number
one and top ten hit. Three of her albums are certified
platinum or higher by the RIAA. Her
most recent recording was Wynonna &
the Big Noise, released on February 12, 2016,
and she released the single "Cool Ya'" that same month. Wynonna is most recognized for
her musical work, although she has also pursued other interests starting in the
2000s, including writing, acting, and philanthropy.
In 2021, Wynonna was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as a member of The Judds.
"I Saw the Light" is a song written
by Andrew Gold and Lisa Angelle, and
recorded by American country music artist Wynonna. It was
released in May 1992 as the second single from Wynonna's self-titled debut album,
and was also the album's second Number One hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts.
It was also ranked by Billboard as the Number One country hit for 1992.
I laid a red rose on
your front porch
And I wrote 'I Love You' on a note
I rang the doorbell and turned to go
Baby when the curtains moved
I couldn't believe the view
I saw the light in your window tonight
I saw two shadows holding each other tight
I know the truth when I look in your eyes
I saw the light in your window tonight
So take your cheating
hands off my red dress
'Cause I ain't wearing this thing for you
I see you clearly now, and your lies too
They say that love is blind
Well, baby, not this time
I saw the light in
your window tonight
I saw two shadows holding each other tight
I know the truth when I look in your eyes
I saw the light in your window tonight
Why, baby, why
Should I listen to ya
Cry, baby, cry
Now I'm walking out the door
They say that love is
blind
Well, baby, not this
time
I know the truth when
I look in your eyes
I saw the light in your window tonight.
