"Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up" is a song written, produced and recorded by Barry White for his second album, Stone Gon' (1973). In June 1973, it was released as the first single in the United States and reached number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. In Europe, it was issued in early 1974 and peaked at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart.

Barrence Eugene Carter, mais conhecido como Barry White (Galveston, 12 de setembro de 1944 — Los Angeles, 4 de julho de 2003) foi um cantor, compositor, maestro e produtor musical norte-americano. Compositor de inúmeros sucessos em estilo soul e disco e de baladas românticas, e um intérprete com voz profunda e grave.

Criou-se no gueto negro da cidade de Los Angeles. Como outros cantores norte-americanos de sucesso, também cantou em coral de igreja na juventude. Foi um adolescente inconsequente, que acabou preso aos dezessete anos de idade por roubar pneus. Na prisão, decidiu mudar de vida e de amigos.

Obteve grande êxito como intérprete de baladas românticas nos anos 60. Em 1972 criou o trio feminino Love Unlimited. Posteriormente aproveitou este nome para batizar seu grupo de acompanhamento, a Love Unlimited Orchestra.
