Mary Juane Clair is a jazz singer, studio pianist and
keyboardist. Before becoming a professional jazz performer, she studied to
become a music theorist at the fine music academy. While in academy she was
also studying piano.
At an
early age Mary was discovered for having a beautiful singing voice. When she realized her passion for
jazz music, she became fascinated with many jazz performers such as Ella
Fitzgerald and George Sheering.
Her
interpretations of the jazz music she performs are deeply expressive and
poetic. Thanks to
her vocal flexibility, and the ability to compose her own vocal and piano
arrangements Mary Juane Clair is able to create her own unique style in her
performances.
"The
Gentle Rain" ("Chuva Delicada") is a 1965 bossa nova composition
by Luiz Bonfá, with
lyrics by Matt Dubey.
Originally written in A minor key and 4/4 time, this song was first released as
part of the motion picture soundtrack of the 1966 film The Gentle
Rain of the North-American director Burt Balaban. The
music of the film was a collaboration of Luiz Bonfá as a composer and Eumir Deodato as orchestra arranger and director. It has become a jazz standard recorded instrumental in MANY albums.
We both
are lost and alone in the world
Walk with me in the gentle rain
Don't be afraid, I've a hand for your hand
and I will be your love for a while
I feel your tears as they fall on my cheek
They are warm like the gentle rain
Come little one you have me in the world
and our love will be sweet
Very sweet
Come little one, you got me in the world
and our love will be sweet
Very sweet, very sad
Like the gentle rain
Like the gentle rain.
